A fun idea for a casual deck that I've been messing around it. Hold the Gates + Assault Formation is a really powerful combo and makes your creatures, which are usually annoying at best, into genuine threats. The Root Maze is there to mitigate the drawbacks of the gates and screw up artifact- reliant decks. Maze's End is an alternate win condition against stall decks and a reliable way to spend excess mana an pump out more lands for Hold the Gates . Anguished Unmaking, Beast Within and the High Priest of Penance+Ulvenwald Tracker combo provide removal. The tracker also works well with Hornet Nest and the deathtouch creatures. Abzan Beastmaster draws cards thanks to Hold the Gates and Dimir Macninations serves a tutor.
