Main Combo

Sac Protean Hulk get Mikaeus, the Unhallowed and Walking Ballista throw a counter at some one, sac the ballista and repeat. Alternatively with Zulaport Cutthroat you can instead throw the counter back at your balista to kill itself, and burn people out.

No sac outlet/sac outlet removed in response:

If you don't have a sac outlet instead you can find one of Viscera Seer or Carrion Feeder alongside a Phyrexian Delver or Body Snatcher, bring back your hulk sac it to your new outlet and revert back to our normal line.

Notable other lines:

If you have a sac outlet, and want additional protection you can get Sylvan Safekeeper alongside your snatcher (snatcher lets you get another outlet as well) or delver.

Remember in the fish meta you can Praetor's Grasp someone's Flash and cast it off City of Brass. Mana Confluence, Exotic Orchard, Reflecting Pool, Mox Diamond

If a combo piece is exiled:

You can fetch Body Snatcher alongside Riftsweeper to put a piece of the combo back into your deck. Sometimes the only way to get a piece from your grave to your deck is through the exile zone using hogaak.

Our combo is very simple and fast. We are a pro-active fast combo deck, that means our main form of interaction is protecting our combo.

Our Protection suite

Our primary for of protection; like our combo is proactive Cabal Therapy, Praetor's Grasp, Thoughtseize. Note that both grasp and thoughtseize can discard hulk from you hand, to reanimate it.

Next we have Autumn's Veil and Veil of Summer, keep us safe while comboing, from everything except Swords to Plowshares. The best form of protection as mentioned above in the combo section is Sylvan Safekeeper which we can grab while comboing.

Our final line of protection is against Leyline of the Void and Rest in Peace, for that we have Force of Vigor and Caustic Caterpillar, as well as Abrupt Decay (only hits RIP) if you know you're facing a stax deck that runs RIP, and you have a grasp early I wouldn't hesitate to grasp that away.

There are several cards in this list that are unique from other golgari decks, which are a result of our choice in commander.

Ashnod's Altar is an all star for flipping our deck with our commander

Morbid Curiosity and Life's Legacy Let us turn our "free" commander into 7/8 new cards.

Bridge from Below lets us cast hogaak endlessly with a single re-curable creature.

Krosan Reclamation You often put a lot of cards in the grave all at once, via explosive self mill, this card lets you protect those cards against grave hate at instant speed, and shuffle key components of the combo back into your deck.

Skullclamp we run a ton of dorks, and can also generate a zombies through bridge, this lets us turn all our chaff and fodder into cards at a high rate.

Hogaak, Arisen Necropolis The big man himself, sometimes 8/8 Trample on turn 2 just beats face, and can punish black decks that try to leverage life as a resource, if you get to swing: pick a player playing black. Make it harder for them to try and leverage things like Ad Nauseam, Necropotence, Spoils of the Vault, Fire Covenant, Toxic Deluge, Razaketh, the Foulblooded, Sylvan Library. Additionally he is rather good at hitting that necessary 3 creature mark for Dread Return

When all is lost, someone Praetor's Grasp's a piece or too many things are exiled we have a line wholly unique to Hogaak.

The major players

The last resort is to play/reanimate Syr Konrad, the Grim (aptly named), and get Greater Good or Ashnod's Altar out, then you try and flip your deck by sacing Hogaak, Arisen Necropolis, and recasting it exiling creatures in your grave. You get to burn everyone for each creature that goes into the grave, and each creature that leaves so Hogaak himself pulls double duty as does Gravecrawler, Bloodghast, and Vengevine. Once you get Bridge from Below into your grave, sacing Hogaak and Gravecrawler will give you 3 convoke targets for the loop.
