A couple years ago, I got really into MtG and spent quite a bit of money with a couple of friends getting booster packs and boxes and fat packs and the like. Then we slowly drifted apart for various reasons, and I drifted away from Magic. However, my interest has come back pretty strongly, so I built this deck a few weeks ago. Mill and control have always been my strong suit when it comes to Magic (as in, they're what I like to play). Currently, it's built mainly out of 2013-2014 era cards that I gathered together and then threw into one pile. That's why there are so many 1-ofs of different cards.
I do not have a very high budget for many more cards (I say at absolute most, $75 total on more cards), but my current plans are as follows:
3x more Breaking / Entering (cheap alternative to Glimpse the Unthinkable, replacing
Paranoid Delusions
)
4x Hedron Crab (to replace the other 0/x cards in the deck and add in more mill)
3x more Jace's Phantasm (replacing other one drops)
2 or 3x Archive Trap to combo with 1 or 2 more Ghost Quarter, or just to mill the enemy if they use any fetch lands
2 or 2x more Tome Scour to replace weaker mill spells
2 or 3x more Consuming Aberration or Lord of the Void or some other high power/toughness creature that helps me mill (probably the Aberration)
2x Mind Funeral To replace GrindClock/Codex Shredder and Mirko Vosk
More efficient removal/defensive spells than the current host of Death's Approach (actualyl works pretty well, may keep some in), Cyclonic Rift, Hydrosurge, Agoraphobia, and others
There are undoubtedly better spells that I can get. but. since I am working on a budget, cards like Snapcaster Mage or Glimpse the Unthinkable are largely out of the questionI do have at least 1 Duskmantle Guildmage somewhere, but no Mindcranks as far as I know, but that is a potential combo to put in
I'm just trying to build a mill deck that is also capable of dropping the enemy to 0 as an alt wincon, for my local FNM. Any and all suggestions are very welcome
