I have fallen down the brew hole and I can't get back out.

Several days ago I started wondering what the most competitive Phelddagrif deck looked like. This is my best shot at an answer.

Phelddagrif is interesting and played so often as a group hug general because he can give your opponents resources. The best build is probably one that takes advantage of that in some way. One of his abilities gives life, which could be good with False Cure, which is out of his colors. The next gives them cards, which would be good with Notion Thief--again out of color-- and Consecrated Sphinx, which is expensive.

However, his last gives them creatures, which can trigger Oath of Druids. Oath of Druids is a monstrously powerful card that is the centerpiece of a very successful vintage deck. Those decks usually use Oath to get Grislebrand, which is out of our colors AND banned.

This deck was inspired by Vintage bomber-oath/dragonlord oath decks. The goal is to win the game with Auriok Salvagers combo, either the old fashioned way or with Oath of Druids. Oath puts Salvagers into play and hopefully some or all of the artifacts you need to win into your grave.

The rest of the deck is fast mana, tutors, card draw and cheap interaction.

Since we don't have Lotus in this format, you have to win with LED, which involves losing your hand. To make up for this, I recommend loading up on Silence effects.

I'm not confident this deck is great, but it should be at least good. I'd have to build and test the list to see if it's in any way consistent. I will say the surprise factor of showing up with the ol' Purple Hippo and then winning on turn 2 would be the best thing ever, and hopefully HippOath can at least join Zombie Hunt and Mono Black Adnauseam on the list of gimmicky combos that work once.

If you have any suggestions, please let me know. If you try playing the deck please tell me how it goes. Nothing would make me happier than if this deck is actually worth tuning and improving.
