Creature (1)

This deck came about after playing my Boros Burn deck. I found that it lacked consistency, So I decided to upgrade it to a Jeskai Control deck.

Below is a breakdown of the deck and the reasoning behind each card. This is not intended to be a primer as the deck is still very much a work in progress.

Current Build

  1. Geist of Saint Traft / Invisible Stalker / Dragonlord Ojutai / Sword of Fire and Ice - Primary deck win condition.

  2. Vendilion Clique / Snapcaster Mage - Good recusion / control and provides backup win condition.

  3. Lightning Bolt / Lightning Helix / Electrolyze - Creature control / support for win condition (also provides card draw).

  4. Path to Exile / Remand / Mana Leak / Cryptic Command - Pure control (also provides card draw).

  5. Serum Visions / Shinx's revelation / Desolate Lighthouse - Pure card draw (provides deck fixing).

  6. Slayers' Stronghold - Increases damage throughput / Haste. Backup Sword.

  7. Moorland Haunt - Effectively doubles the number of creatures in the deck.

Current Sideboard

  1. Anger of the Gods / Wrath of God / Lightning Helix - Additional main deck item (3/4).

  2. Ajani Vengeant - Good multipurpose planeswalker there for the control matchup. His plus starves opponents of mana or keeps an attacker tapped down, his minus is a repeatable Lightning Helix and his ult effectively wins the game.

  3. Counterflux / Spell Pierce / Path to Exile - Additional main deck item (4).

  4. Wear / Tear - Utility. Used to Shut down Blood Moon / Pithing Needle / Stony Silence, basically stuff that stops me from equipping Sword and also lets me deal with Splinter Twin, Affinity, etc.

  5. Keranos, God of Storms - Good in the long game as he provides card advantage and burn all in one card. Not to mention he's very hard to remove once down.

  6. Timely Reinforcements - Good in the aggro matchup, especially since the deck runs light on creatures.

Future Changes (under consideration)

The maybeboard lists cards under consideration. Changes listed here are the most likely to happen.

  1. Batterskull - Was recently taken out of the sideboard, I'm not sure if I want to make some space to fit it back in.

  2. Sword of Light and Shadow - It seems good for the long games as bringing back Snapcaster Mages is a solid play.

  3. Crumble to Dust - For the Tron matchup, 'nuff said.

Current Issues

  1. Liliana of the Veil - Low creaure count. Can't afford to sacrifice.

Any constructive feedback / comments / critisms are appreciated. Please let me know what you think. And if you like the deck, show your support with an upvote!

Updates Add

So I have decided to go down to one Sword of Fire and Ice for now. While it is a solid card when paired with a hexproofer, it is a complete dead draw when my board is empty. So it has been replaced with Sphinx's Revelation which will hopefully help draw into value. I have also moved one Path to Exile to the sideboard and added a third Electrolyze to the mainbaord for more card advantage, though I am still conteplaiting this one. to make room for the Path to Exile, I have decide to cut one Boros Charm, however I am considering cutting the other one and one other card for Crumble to Dust. I'm also contemplaiting running a singleton Sword of Light and Shadow for more graveyard value but that will tkae a bit more thinking.

EDIT: I cut the other Boros Charm to test Ajani Vengeant in the sidebaord. We will see how he performs.
