Sideboard

This Green/White deck focuses on the Heroic abilities of various creatures and also spells that targets those creatures to get as many counters as possible on our creatures. Even though most of these types of decks are usually semi-competitive and are budget, I wanted to make a "non-budget" competitive Heroic deck.

If anyone has any suggestions or tips for this deck, please don't hesitate to tell me in the comment section! =)

1) Favored Hoplite , Fabled Hero , and Hero of Iroas all have the Heroic ability, so we want to focus our spells on these creatures, especially early game. These small creatures will soon become very big and will be a serious threat for our opponent if they do not take care of them as soon as possible.

2) Every spell in this deck targets a creature, so no matter what spell we use, it will trigger the Heroic ability. Alpha Authority will help to make sure our Heroic creatures do not get destroyed from spells like Doom Blade or bounced back from spells like Unsummon. Gods Willing for both defense from a spell or to help push through an attack. Selesnya Charm also helps as a combat trick to push through damage, but can also be used to exile a big creature our opponent might control. The 2/2 vigilance token is going to be the least used effect, if used at all.

3) Hero of Iroas replaced my Fleecemane Lion because he's a little less color specific, but also that he makes all the auras a mana cheaper. So that really opens mana to use a Gods Willing or a turn three bestow Eidolon of Countless Battles . Eidolon of Countless Battles is, in my opinion, one of the better bestow creatures that I actually want to use in this deck. If I want/need a creature, I can summon it as a creature, but if I want to trigger one of my heroic creatures, I can bestow it for just one more extra mana, which will not be a problem with it's creature cmc is 3 mana and it's bestow cmc is 4 mana.

4) Now the other two creatures in this deck will be game enders. Archangel of Thune will give every creature we control a +1/+1 counter, as every time she attacks, we will gain life. With her ability, whenever we gain life, our creatures get a +1/+1 counter! So with Unflinching Courage and Scavenging Ooze we can gain life to trigger her amazing effect! Kalonian Hydra will definitely win us games, as every time he attacks, EVERY creature we control DOUBLE their amount of +1/+1 counters. With both Archangel of Thune and Phalanx Leader 's ability, getting counters on all of our creatures that do not have Heroic will benefit from this effect. Plus, Reap What Is Sown can help us to put counters on creatures that do not have Heroic.

For the sideboard:

1) Pit Fight is our green way for creature removal. Not only can we get rid of other pesky creatures, but our Heroic creatures will also get a +1/+1 counter!

2) Celestial Flare is useful if we need creature removal when our opponents creatures are Hexproof / Indestructible, or if we are just fighting against a very heavy agro deck. Banisher Priest is used when our opponent has scary creatures such as Desecration Demon, Stormbreath Dragon, Polukronos, World eater, and/or Scavenging Ooze.

3) Revoke Existence is used for getting rid of enchantments like Detention Sphere and artifacts like Ratchet Bomb, so even if our opponent has God creatures like Thassa, God of the Sea, we can get rid of them.

4) Plummet is used for big flyers our opponent might have such as Desecration Demon, Stormbreath Dragon, and/or Archangel of Thune. Its great if our creatures aren't big enough to fit them directly.

5) Rootborn Defenses and Ajani's Presence is our way to counter-act those pesky removal spells. Rootborn Defenses is best for mass removal like Supreme Verdict while Mortal's Resolve is for single removal spells.

This deck performed amazingly well during today's FNM.

Round 1: Bant Control (2-1)

The first game I lost mainly because my opponent had many bounce spells and I didn't have a creature enchanted with Alpha Authority. He eventually ultimate Elspeth, Sun's Champion and I lost. The second two games I pretty much outpaced him.

Round 2: All Color Control (2-0)

Just like the first round, I pretty much was able to enchant my creatures with Unflinching Courage and Alpha Authority and he wasn't able to do anything against them.

Round 3: Esper Control (1-2)

The first game I was able to outpace him and kill him by turn 5. The second two games he was able to Supreme Verdict even my Hexproof creatures and after that I wasn't able to prevent him from using Elspeth, Sun's Champion ultimate. It was because of this game that made me sideboard Rootborn Defenses and Mortal's Resolve.

Round 4: Rakdos Minotaur Aggro (2-0)

This round was pretty much a race and he wasn't able to outrace any of my Heroic creatures.

This FNM was pretty much control and since I really dislike playing against Control I'm very happy with how I did!
