Maybeboard

Here's my latest take on Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons! She was my first commander deck and has went under many changes but i've finally found a build that I enjoy to play that is fast and competitive and now wanna share it with you and try to tune it even more!

I'm open to any suggestions and would love to discuss this commander, please understand we all have our own budget and own playgroups so some cards or playstyle might not be what I am aiming for. I didn't include any real stax cards like Smokestack in this build although Dictate of Erebos does a good job in this sense, locking down the board of any creatures in some cases.

I might need more ramp (creature based? mana rocks? land ramp?), more interactions with the board and answers as I find myself to not be able to answer to problems on the board except creatures.

The main goal of this deck is to swarm the board with deathtouch snakes and other value creatures and either win through an infinite combo , a lot of damage or by slowly draining your opponents to death! We're gonna shoot -1 -1 counters left and right and by doing so we're gonna ; kill creatures, draw cards, get mana and drain our opponents! -1 -1 counters are a really fun strategy and makes places for some really fun interactions.
I run Beseech the Queen, Demonic Tutor and Diabolic Intent and most of the time they go and get Yawgmoth, Thran Physician as it creates instant value if it resolves! It's also good to just get the missing (non-creature) piece of your combo that you can't get with Birthing Pod or Eldritch Evolution, wether it's a sacrifice outlet Ashnod's Altar, a draining card Bastion of Remembrance orBlowfly Infestation
Here's some card i'm thinking about changing and why :

Maelstrom Pulse : It's a sorcery and quite situational, will probably switch for a 2-3 cmc removal spell

Hooded Blightfang : It might add some life drain here and there but not a finisher and so many 3 drops, still testing it out but a bit underwhelming

Kodama's Reach and Cultivate : Should probably run Three Visits type cards at 2 cmc instead?

Blood Artist : As I already have Obelisk Spider, Zulaport Cutthroat and Poison-Tip Archer, I believe I have enough draining effects that can be tutored or found with birthing pod and sadly this one doesn't drain every player wich can make the maths akward when you're trying to go-off and not deck yourself!

Here's some card i couldn't or didn't include and why. There's also the fetches, the free/cheap artifacts like Mana Crypt and Mana Vault wich I don't have the budget for.

Carnifex Demon : Love this creature even if he's mana hungry, it can wipe a board and get us lots of value. On the maybeboard!

Quillspike : He does make infinite snakes and gets infinite power/toughness with Devoted Druid but apart from that he's rarely useful and is too narrow to work in this deck. I did win games with him when I was running him but would rather run a pro-active card.

Craterhoof Behemoth : Another budget exclusion, might include Triumph of the Hordes as it's more affordable, easier to cast and i wouldn't feel bad to infect someone to death with a deck like Hapatra, she is the Vizier of Poisons after all! It is getting a reprint so hopefully i will pull one or price will go down!

I don't run a lot of combos as my playgroup is not too fond of it and me neither but I believe a minimum of 3 cards to combo out is fair and all of these can be disrupted in some way.

Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons and Yawgmoth, Thran Physician + two 1/1 creatures + Zulaport Cutthroat

Also works without Hapatra on the board, instead using Nest of Scarabs to get the extra 1/1 creature. You can switch Zulaport Cutthroat with any of the other drainer effect to close out the game. You pay 1 life, sacrifice a 1/1 creature, put the -1 -1 counter on the other 1/1 creature and draw a card, netting you another 1/1 creature and draining your opponents for 1 and getting your 1 lost life back. Rinse and repeat for the win! Watch out so you don't mill yourself as your drawing a card for every sac!

Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons and Blowfly Infestation + one 1/1 creatures and a Zulaport Cutthroat

You need to place a -1 -1 counter on the 1/1 to start the loop, it can also kill the table with Obelisk Spider in play or the other draining effects.

Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons, Devoted Druid and Ivy Lane Denizen + a sac outlet

Infinite green mana, and infinite snakes and with a sac outlet like (Viscera Seer, Ashnod's Altar or Yawgmoth, Thran Physician) and a Zulaport Cutthroat effect, you can win by sacing all the snakes you created!
