Hapatra, Vizier of Danger Noodles

Commander / EDH*

Impedocles

Maybeboard

This is a brew for a Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons deck. This is a grindy stax/combo list, focusing on using tokens to generate value and break stax parity, and then comboing off to create infinite tokens.

Pros:- Hapatra is very low-cmc and acts as a combo piece, removal, and a token generator.- Very lean, with an average CMC under 1.4, so it plays well under stax and draws tons of cards off of ad nauseam- Very flexible, able to race combo decks to a turn 3 win or slow down the game and interact, depending on what is best- Has a strong suite of mana acceleration that is immune to Null Rod and artifact destruction, so it gets to hate on artifacts itself.-The combos use redundant pieces to increase the likelihood of drawing them and additional options if a piece is exiled.
-The commander is not required to win.-The combos available are resistant to permanent-based hate: there are options that don't rely on the graveyard, creature ETB effects, activated abilities, casting infinite spells, or drawing.
-The deck plays a decent amount of interaction and stax to interrupt opposing combos.-Contamination lock

Cons:-Putting the combos together can be complex, and they can require 3-4 cards to win if you get the wrong pieces.-Toxic deluge is a bitch-Is slightly less reliable at winning off of an ad nauseam than UBx decks-Devoted druid combos are affected by summoning sickness-GB can't interact with the stack, except with Autumn's Veil-Generally a turn slower than all-in combo decks if you or the table don't draw into a way to interact.

Lines of play:You want to ramp and deploy any stax pieces you have early, and then tutor for your win cons. If you have one piece, tutor for the other. Otherwise, tutor for ad nauseam and end-step it. Cast Hapatra if an opponent has valuable 1-toughness creatures, you have a use for the tokens, or you can have the blowfly infestation combo online next turn.

Combos:The deck wins using combos that put infinite tokens into play and triggering infinite LTB/ETB triggers. The different combo pieces interact in a number of ways, which I will try to explain. There are three main combos, which each combine with a variety of outlets to win instantly.

Blowfly Infestation + HapatraThis card combos with our commander to generate and kill infinite tokens. To begin, it requires either two 1-toughness creatures on the field plus a way to place an intitial -1/-1 counter on one of them (usually Hapatra attacking) or a devoted druid. When the counter is placed, the creature dies and both Hapatra and Blowfly infestation trigger. Blowfly infestation needs a 1-toughness creature on the field to target. Stack the triggers so that the hapatra trigger resolves and creates the token first. When the blowfly trigger resolves and kills the target with a -1/-1 counter, you can loop this to generate infinite creature ETB and LTB triggers.

This wins with Altar of the Brood or Blood Artist, and generate infinite mana in your combat phase with Earthcraft + a basic land. Fecundity lets you draw as many cards as you want before you end the combo by placing the counter on Hapatra.

Devoted Druid + Quillspike + HapatraRepeatedly untapping druid and then tapping it for mana to remove the counter generates infinite snake tokens. This requires that the devoted druid not be summoning sick. It wins with Altar of the Brood, Blasting Station , or a sac outlet + one of our LTB outlets. With earthcraft + a basic land, this generates infinite mana and isn't slowed down by summoning sickness. Concordant Crossroads lets you swing with infinite sneks.

Earthcraft + Squirrel Nest Squirrelcraft generates infinite tapped squirrels plus one untapped one. It wins with Altar of the Brood, Blasting Station , or a sac outlet + one of our LTB outlets.
