Mono Blue Control


Aim

This deck centres around disabling an opponents offence and making their defence useless by hitting them with unblockable creatures.

Counter spells allow me to stop threats before they ever hit the board. Any that do will then be disabled by 'doesn't untap' enchantments. The unblockable creatures then ensure a Curiosity gives me regular card draw to keep the counters and controlling enchantments coming, which is normally targeted at a Invisible Stalker due to it being hexproof and thus hard to remove. Dungeon Geists provides me with both a useful flyer and opponent creature control.

Towards the end of the game I will hopefully have enough unblockable creatures, such as Latch Seeker, on the board to consistently do between 5 and 8 damage per turn thus putting my opponent on a 4 turn clock with no way of defending (via their creatures) and no substantial attack to respond with.


Key Combos

Latch Seeker + Curiosity
Card draw for me and 3 damage for an opponent.

Latch Seeker + Hands of Binding
Unblockable damage for an opponent as well as one of their creatures being disabled next turn.

Hands of Binding + Quiet Contemplation
Each time Hands ciphers I can disable another creature for 1 mana.


Main Board

AEtherling
High mana cost but a bona fide win condition, its flicker ability means it can be kept on the battlefield by keeping that spare bit of mana open. The fact it can also be made into an unblockable 8/1 means it fits well in this deck.

Blighted Agent
Unblockable infect puts the fear into many an opponent. Hello 10 turn clock.

Dungeon Geists
More opponent creature disablement and flying which is the 2nd best thing to unblockable.

Latch Seeker
Unblockable 3 damage.

Shipbreaker Kraken
Its monstorous tap ability synergises with this deck really well, hoovering up what I will have not already taped permanently.

Bident of Thassa
Forms part of the essential card draw this deck needs to keep shutting down an opponents offence.

Curiosity
Forms the other part of the essential card draw in this deck to keep the flow of '"doesn't untap" and counters coming.

Encrust
Doesn't provide the instant tap that Claustrophobia does but more importantly shuts down activated abilities as well as any threats from artifacts.

Quiet Contemplation
With the amount of non creature cards in the deck a very useful source of double tapping opponents creatures. It also combo's very nicely with Hands Of Binding.

Hands of Binding
Consistent disablement of opponents creatures considering it will more than likely be ciphered onto an unblockable creature.

Negate
Provides another level of control for instant and sorcery heavy decks.

Psychic Barrier
Another prevention spell with an added 1 damage ping for opponents.

Tamiyo, the Moon Sage
Fits with the theme of tapping opponents creatures and keeping them tapped for a turn, with the benefit of card draw for doing so. Her -8 if I ever reach it allows me to re-use my instants and sorceries and keep my creatures from biting the dust completely.
