Hey all. This is my first draft of my Gyrus, Waker of Corpses deck. I think Gyrus is a really fun commander and he was loads of fun to brainstorm and build around. I will be posting any updates/changes to the deck here as time goes on and I figure out what works and what doesn’t. Also I didn’t feel the need for direct tutors (except for Diabolic Intent as it helps with the sacrifice theme AND gets me a card from library) because I am in a more casual format that drops bombs every now and then. We all like to have a good time. This is also the reason you don’t see the fetchlands and duals, and other high value cards such as things on the reserve list. If I ever happen to get them I may add them, but as for right now I view them as unnecessary. Thank you for looking and feel free to drop some criticism!

Update 10/5/18 -Desecrated Tomb, Parallel Lives +Rocky Tar Pit, Mountain Valley

This change comes after a suggestion that made me realize the land count needed to be a little higher than it was to be more beneficial to the deck. While desecrated tomb is a fantastic flavor card, it ultimately had to be cut for consistency reasons. I took out parallel lives because I already had two other token doublers that also affect counters, so parallel lives seemed weak when compared to the other two.

Edit 10/14/18 -Fires of Yavimaya, + Mulch At this point I had gotten a chance to get a decent amount of games in and fires just wasn’t working the way I wanted it to in the deck. Mulch is just one of those beneficial cards that can get Gyrus going faster.

-Disciple of Bolas, +Moonlight Bargain This one might be a little more controversial, but I just didn’t like the way disciple was playing out. It would always come at the wrong time or be unnecessary by the time I could use it. Moonlight bargain is kinda in here for the same reason Mulch is.

-Avalanche Riders, +Brawn Avalanche just isn’t that good in my current meta. That’s really the only reason he’s out. Brawn can help us get in commander damage with Gyrus if we have to hit over other creatures.
