Guru's Garden - Budget Ghave Tokens

Commander / EDH*

BudgeterBlais

This deck is a 50 dollar budget commander deck for Ghave, Guru of Spores, with a saproling/fungus tribal token theme.

This deck involves 2 steps to reach the main win conditions.

1: Create Saproling tokens.

There are many ways to create these tokens, including our commander, Ghave, Guru of Spores, and many other cards including Slimefoot, the Stowaway, Golgari Germination and Necrogenesis. A sub theme in this deck is the inclusion of a pseudo-cycle set of cards similar to Elvish Farmer. These creatures gain spore counters over numbers of turns, that can be spent to create Saprolings. This sort of card often act slowly, so there are several counter accelerators, like Winding Constrictor and a number of proliferate cards, that add extra spore counters.

2: Sacrifice tokens to buff the win condition creatures.

There are many sacrifice outlets in this deck, again including Ghave, Guru of Spores, as well as Scourge of Skola Veil:, and many others as well. There are several creatures that benefit from the death of these creatures such as Bloodbriar, Krav, the Unredeemed and Rot Shambler. Those creatures are the winners, as they get bigger and bigger while you sacrifice the tokens.

Top Cards

1 - Krav, the Unredeemed.

This card is one of the best finishers in the deck. It can sacrifice multiple Saprolings at once to get many +1/+1 counters, as well as the excellent bonus to draw a few cards and gain you a bit of life. This ability only costs a single , and can be activated at instant speed.

2 - Mycoloth.

Mycoloth is very good for a mid-game token generator, and can be a small sacrifice outlet to help pump cards like Rot Shambler or Bloodbriar. As long as you can devour a lot of Saprolings with this card, it is very easy to begin to pump out tons of Saprolings on each of your upkeeps. When paired with Hardened Scales, or other cards that assist with counters, Mycoloth can be a formidable creature and an excellent token producer all in one.

3 - Second Harvest.

This card is equally useful when you need a few more blockers and when you're about to sacrifice a ton of Saprolings on a huge finisher card. It is very dynamic and excellent value at instant speed.
