lol i like that definition of the archetype. the only other way ive seen it done is in legacy with this retarded amount of ramp, and it just plops onto the field at like turn 4. it's ridiculous. and then next turn, he drops like 4 more fatties.

but about this deck: kudos for using the creature steal mechanic, and kudos for using Turn to Frog effectively! people are always like OMG HE DROP A COLOSSUS im like no he dropped a frog, Doom Blade . this is super funny. +1.

Thanks for the +1 SplodyCopter! My favorite thing about Turn to Frog vs a Blightsteel Colossus is that it's super effective at getting that beast into the graveyard. And then I can Gruesome Encore it for more nasty damage!

The more I look at it, the more I want to put in a full play set of Act of Aggression . I think that card would be super strong in the current meta. Some one is playing Wolf Run Ramp? Steal their pumped creatures with act, then fling them at them. Wurmcoil Engine s? Take 'em and use 'em as blockers. Tempered Steel? Steal their biggest nasty, use it as a blocker, maybe gain some life if it's something like a Vault Skirge , then fling it at them.

The one things I see this having trouble with are decks like Red Deck Wins because it's so fast, and it's creatures are so tiny, and aren't don't make much of difference if you steal them and Fling them.

I think it'd even do well against decks like Township Tokens, if you can keep their token generation down, and then steal their big bombs and slap them with them.

i agree, you could also put some Vivisection or card:Altar's Reap in there for the extra card draw. since stupid Slave of Bolas is in stupid conflux which isnt stupid standard anymore stupid.

lollll this deck i so funny.......if its blightsteel u wanna fudge up you should have card:Altar's Reap really..this would hurt enemys even more...ide side in a Wurmcoil Engine for other decks though..thatd give u a chance of beating them more =P +1 for blightsteel hate

Personal i find the Shape Anew and Blightsteel Colossus decks one of the easiest decks to counter. Vapor Snag and Unsummon make decks like Splicing Insanity cry.

I agree with SplodyCopter on the card:Altar's Reap for a sac outlet. But maybe also throw in another more permanent outlet like Culling Dais . This way when you're stealing their creatures you wont lose card advantage by having to waste a kill spell on them.

It looks like an amusing deck to play. Seems a little too dependent on your opponent but I play agro so I am a little biased. If u get a chance check out my decks and tell me what you think.

I like the deck very much! I would put some Slagstorm in the sideboard for use against token decks and RDW and such though.

It looks super fun to play! But I think its a little land heavy for the mana curve. Phantasmal Image s would be a perfect addition and maybe card:Stitcher's Apprentice as another way to sac their creatures and beef up your army.

I would think of using Mimic Vat as well!

Take Wurmcoil Engine with Act of Aggression in response to them attacking, Fling then throw Wurmcoil Engine into Mimic Vat !

And if you play 3 make a copy swing with Wurmcoil Engine , Fling it again... the tokens stay!!!!!

So gross... just so gross +1 for destroying our FnM meta!

...um if u just counter Shape Anew ...u win. I love the idea but i think that if your going to run blue in a deck and u see that its turbo colossus save for Shape Anew

TimberWolf... tsk tsk. Where's the fun in that? I want to hit them with their own Blightsteel Colossus , then Turn to Frog it, and sacrifice it, and then Gruesome Encore it back out of their graveyard.

Hey man, nice deck! Just wanted to bring to your attention that Gruesome Encore can't reanimate a Blightsteel Colossus since it can't hit the graveyard. Maybe Turn to Frog can negate this effect, but I'm not quite sure and I'd have to ask on the WotC forums.

Either way, I think you'd run a safer gameplan by running another Act of Treason and 2x Culling Dais or some moar Fling !

If you Turn to Frog a Blightsteel Colossus before killing it, since it has no abilities while it's a frog, it'll hit the graveyard. It's pretty much the only way to get a Blightsteel Colossus into the graveyard. The beautiful thing about the Blightsteel's shuffle back into the library ability, is that it's triggered whenever it would be put into the graveyard, and not when it's already in the graveyard. It's a cheeky strategy.

Or you could just play white and use Revoke Existence or Oblivion Ring , Fiend Hunter , Leonin Relic-Warder or multiple other cards in white that will stop him :).

I can't hit my opponent with their own Blightsteel Colossus if I just up and exile it!

December 11, 2011 2:27 p.m.

Mikeomack says... #21

The opponent can play turn 4 Blightsteel and swing with it on turn 5. You can't use that combo until turn 5 at least and need 1 red source and 2 cards in hand. Hes also beating you down with other 3/3 golems (unless they have splice effects). It's a good idea, but it's not the only way that deck can win. how do you handle the other creatures and golems they are dropping? How do you win other then hoping they play a blightsteel and you having those 2 cards to win you the game?

Revoke Existence would work nice. Exile out their Quicksilver Amulet or just wait for mister colossus.

I also have a problem with a turbo colossus deck in modern format. He drops a Swiftfoot Boots on the field then waits. Idk how to take it out and Blightsteel Colossus

Mikeomack says... #23

Instead of Revoke Existence , try Divine Offering on the boots in response to equipping or when you find them tapped out.

Maybe. I'll try building the basic concept of HIS deck and post it to try to get weakness feed back.

Counters are in here for some tempo. I delay their Blightsteel Colossus while I get mana out, then I combo.
