My first deck was a regular golgari starter deck with scavenge as the core mechanic. scavenge is still the core mechanic but in an other and more competitve way. Anyway i gave a liking to +1/+1 counters, building up creatures to literally win with one punch, and the more i learned about magic, the more I could think about cards that might fit in this kind of deck!
I've always been trying to make it more and more competitive by discovering new cards and ideas. Still I've much to learn and the card choises might not be the best, But this is the result so far, i think it's a pretty good and fun deck to play!
Main goal = Death's Shadow + Varolz, the Scar-Striped
on either Lotleth Troll or Vampire Nighthawk for the most effectivity.
CREATURES
Death's Shadow - mainly for scavenge, otherwise big dude when he's needed the most.
Lotleth Troll - trampling troll with evasion, feeding for the finishing blow.
Slitherhead - works really well as chumpblockers, thereafter function as free +1/+1 counters. Especially good with Lotleth Troll.
Sylvan Caryatid - Just a fanstastic ramper and blocker, rooting itself steady into the ground.
Vampire Nighthawk - Can be used as an alternative instead of Lotleth Troll, great with some life-leech. Vampires feasts as well.
Varolz, the Scar-Striped - The guy making rotting meat edible.
NONCREATURES
Abrupt Decay - Great removal.
Tragic Slip - Where Abrupt Decay doesn't reach, also takes care of indestructble guys.
Solidarity of Heroes - Making big guys even bigger. Pile in the agony.
Vines of Vastwood - Evasion and some boost while we're at it.
Buried Alive - To fetch the yummy ones to the yard.
Increasing Savagery - Nice if the main goal doesn't work out, otherwise the buildup is about to get cruel.
Canopy Cover - More evasion. Crazy as it sounds, the undead can also be flexible.
That's my line-up, hope you enjoyed it! If you know cards that might feel comfortable in such a rotten environment, leave a suggestion and even better tell me the reason and exchange, and I'll consider it!
While you're at it, treat me with a +1! :D
