[Mesmeric & Forbidden Blessing]

My name is uuizard in The Git Frog Monster discord, and this is the cEDH Gitrog build I've been working on. It works pretty well for now but I'm improving it as I go. I'll eventually optimize it the best I can as time passes, but it's going to take a lot of time.

A brief series explanations: Missing Dakmor Salvage can be a bummer, especially when someone steals it from me somehow. Using Basalt Monolith + Mesmeric Orb works as a backup combo to accumulate enough draw triggers to get the whole library in my hand. It's necessary to also have a discard outlet to be able to start doing more complex gestures, but drawing the library only needs Gitrog in play with Morb and Monolith. Although this process is nondeterministic and time consuming to manually draw the library, it does provide an out to do so when Dakmor isn't part of the equation by using the mana produced by Basalt Monolith to untap itself, triggering Mesmeric Orb milling 1. It basically requires milling 1 and holding priority and changing how I react depending on what hits the graveyard. If it's a land I leave the draw triggers on the stack then tap+untap monolith again to trigger Morb, keep milling until I hit a shuffle trigger, resolving the shuffles until there are more draws on the stack than cards left in my library and finally resolves them all at once. It's "shortcuttable" but only barely, as what I really want to do is have more draws on the stack than there are cards left, and it takes a long time to make roughly 300 draw triggers. This is why even though others are beginning to rotate away from Emergence Zone, I keep it because it allows me to leave the draws on the stack instead of dispersing them by discarding Kozilek and instead immediately begin looping spells under--implying an arbitrary number of draw triggers have been generated--to win relatively the same as traditionally with things like Culling the Weak Deathrite Shaman and Finale of Devastation loops; pitching enough Instants and Sorceries to exile for Deathrite's lifeloss ability to kill the table. Also Plunge into Darkness typically isn't ran in Gaea's Blessing builds (which are now exclusively used in metas where Anafenza, the Foremost lurks under heavy protection) but it provides a lot of value as a forbidden tutor as well as a sacrifice/lifegain outlet for loops. I don't use Tainted Pact like other "Forbidden Blessing" builds because I prefer having more basic lands as fetch targets should the game get longer than expected. Lastly like others, I employ Fatal Push for the inevitable Drannith Magistrate confrontation, but there are other things it can destroy being easy to Revolt by Gitrog's upkeep trigger or a fetchland to get rid of a creature cmc 4 or less. Lotus Cobra is the only "Lands Matter" card that I keep because the sheer amount of raw synergy is too much to ignore.

Thanks to Leptys forgottenkane bendinguy Noobzaurs and kiebitzen for all the work they've done on documentation and experimentation, and thanks to everyone in the discord for the memes and the never ending stream of assistance.

The following are notes on planned improvements and upgrades for the immediate future as I can afford them and what they'd be replacing.
Jarad's Orders --> Sylvan Tutor
Mausoleum Secrets --> Vampiric Tutor
Thanks for checking it out.

Updates Add

Got a proxy Bayou, swapped it for Tainted Wood, and switched Oakhame Adversary back in and took out Dryad Arbor. The extra card draw engine with both Grob as well as Bob should probably work in my favor.

I'm also theorizing with Plunge into Darkness mostly for it's lifegain capabilities first, and as a forbidden tutor second. There's a lot of potential to exile something important on the plunge for Dakmor, but there might be enough redundancies here to be able to work around it, or Riftsweeper things back in if I have to.
