Grothama's Mean Green Machine

Commander / EDH Mono-Green

23BLUENINJA

This is a Green combo deck, not unlike other green combo decks. It isn't as fast as Selvala, but the upside is having access to some of the most mana efficient draw in magic. Even comboing Rishkar's Expertise with Grothama will get you 10 cards for 11 mana. The rate only gets better from there, all the way to 1.4 cards per mana spent with Life's Legacy .

The goal is to get infinite mana with Argothian Elder , Wirewood Lodge , and any land able to tap for 2, or Selvala, Heart of the Wilds with Sword of the Paruns or Umbral Mantle . We get to these piece by running 12 creature tutors, 5 land tutors, and 5 other ways to have a land tap for 2.

Once you have infinite mana, all you need is one to hand or battlefield creature tutor (not Worldly Tutor , Elvish Harbinger , or Green Sun's Zenith ), or Genesis Wave / Vivien's Grizzly or Ezuri, Renegade Leader , or (fun but obscure) Sylvan Offering with Prey Upon .

With a creature tutor, tutor for either Temur Sabertooth if using Selvala, or Eternal Witness if using Argothian Elder. If using Selvala for mana, just cast and bounce Grothama over and over with sabertooth to draw your deck. If using Argothian Elder, once you tutor for Eternal Witness, use her to target the creature tutor, then tutor for sabertooth, bouncing Eternal Witness to then tutor for Selvala, then draw your deck.

With Ezuri, Renegade Leader , use his second ability to pump your elves (in this case either Argothian Elder or Selvala) up to a number that is slightly less than the number of cards left in your deck. Go to combat, and have your elf fight Grothama to draw most of your deck.

With Sylvan Offering and Prey Upon , use Prey Upon on Grothama and the infinitely large treefolk you gave to someone to deck them. You'll need to use some of the other loops to recur it, but I find decking opponents in green to be hilarious, so I wanted to mention it. Otherwise with Grothama on the field Prey Upon can just be a creature removal spell.

Once you have your deck in your hand/on the field you win using a Beast Within loop or straight combat with Ezuri's pump, elves, and Concordant Crossroads .
