Back in the day, Trix was awesome. With Harmless Offering, suddenly Cheerios doesn't have to be the only modern cereal. I recognize modern is lacking some of the elements that made Trix so unstoppable (namely free protection in Force of Will, absurd draw power with Necropotence, killer tutors, and wild mana acceleration) but I think there's room for a slower style build. With that in mind, I've begun experimenting. Generally, I'm taking a Grixis Control style list and shoe-horning the Harmless Offering+Demonic Pact pairing into the mix.

This is very much a work in progress and the mana base is definitely wrong (but the least of my concerns for now - that's easily sorted once the rest of the deck feels right). I know there are other Harmless Offering targets in modern besides Demonic Pact, but I like the sound of "you lose the game." I have no illusions that this will be a T1 deck, but I'm hoping to hone it into something that has a fighting chance of being competitive.

These cards make up the backbone of how I'm trying to win. They're either part of the win themselves, or help me find and protect it.

Demonic Pact: it's a four of because I always want to see it by turn 4, and don't actually mind multiples. This is our gift for the opponent. Use the other three modes and then give them a...

Harmless Offering: I dropped this to a three of because more than two is kind of lame, I don't really need it until turn 7, and I can generally find it with a Dark Petition...

Pact of Negation is doing its best Force of Will impersonation. I'm really only looking to cast it on the turn I'm going to go for the Harmless Offering... If my offering is rejected, Pact of Negations you lose the game clause won't really matter.

Dark Petition is a 3 of so I can use it to tutor out basically anything I need. Starting on turn 6, I can tutor and cast whatever I'm missing. Typical targets are Demonic Pact, Harmless Offering, or Pact of Negation.

Of course, as this deck isn't really ready to win until T7, I need to find a way to survive that long. In a T4 format, that's no small task. This may ultimately be where this deck fails, but I'm going to do my best to ensure I can survive.

Terminate and Dreadbore are a combined four of. Currently I'm running a 3/1 split, but I'm considering a 2/2 split as the destroy planeswalker mode on Dreadbore is more relevant than it once was.

Thoughtseize while I generally love this spell, I'm only running 2 because the life loss is not irrelevant in a deck that's hoping to survive for so long.

Inquisition of Kozilek as a four of. I'm favoring this over Thoughtseize because I'm not sure I can afford to pay the two life for Thoughtseize too many times.

Damnation is just a 1 of. With Dark Petition, I can search it out when I absolutely need it. I'm not sure it's doing much for me mainboard, but I do need some mass creature removal.

Remand could be and probably should be a Mana Leak. It's here to help us successfully navigate the first three turns of the game.

Serum Visions needs no explanation. This is here over Ancestral Recall because I can't afford to suspend recall in the late game (and I can't afford to buy 4)

Thought Scour digs me deep, is an instant, and can get rid of extra Harmless Offerings

Snapcaster Mage also needs no introduction. He allows me to do some fun things flashing back my spells (including flashing Pact of Negation on my Harmless Offering turn.)

The maybeboard is full of cards I considered and rejected or that I couldn't find room for. For example, I think a Jace, Vryn's Prodigy   enabled Whispers of Emrakul seems delightful, but I also think it might be too cute.

I would love any constructive feedback and suggestions on tuning, improving, and making this a somewhat viable build. Cheers!
