I'm running a similar list and it's a cool way to win! My suggestion would be to replace Boomerang with Echoing Truth. It's better against token strats and it doesnt affect the way you bounce Demonic Pact back. And a cost can be tough on 3 colors.

That's a fair point Naksu, I was thinking Boomerang could be used on an opponent's land to stall until I find my combo pieces, but it doesn't seem like it's worth the harder casting cost. Just took a look at your deck and it looks pretty good! I see you were interested in Midnight Oil, and I was just wondering if you tried it out and how it worked for you. It's something I've been considering, but I'm not sure it's the best idea given that it could end up making me discard combo pieces in certain situations.

Yeah, the Oil just wasnt worth it. It pretty much just forces your opponent to play his draws right away.. Pact is simply superior and you can just add tutors like Dimir House Guard or Diabolic Tutor to make more "copies" of it. Diabolic searches for the Offering too but DHG costs 3.

Thanks Angry_Potatoes! It certainly makes for a fun turn 3 play!

I recommend using Summoner's egg. That way you could imprint sky sallower and give your opponent summoners egg with Harmless offering. Then if summoners egg dies like from demonic pact, you can gain control of all of your opponents permanents. Their creatures, their lands, everything. I mean now you got an 8/8 flyer to contend with, but I feel like it would be worth it.

boros_bladebringer, thanks for the suggestion! While it's definitely an interesting idea, the goal of the deck is to give my opponent cards that are more of a hindrance than a gain. If I then take those cards back it kind of defeats the purpose. I'll keep the idea in mind, but it also sounds like a very situational play that would not resolve as often as you might think. After all, for the play you described to actually happen, you would need four different cards to come together which is way too many in modern. I concede that it would be a magnificent play, but I think it's a little too cute to be worth it.

I think I just s*** my pants with this deck...especially considering the rulings!!! I played it against my W/B warriors deck and I messed up the rulings. I thought it said "choose one that you haven't chosen before" which allowed me to pull out a Banishing Light with the draw 2 cards ability and got rid of it. So even though that deck won....it should have lost (O-O). But this is a truly an amazing concept and I would love to get a paper version of this!!!

Countermagic seems pretty essential in this deck, because if they counter your Harmless Offering then you'll die to your own Demonic Pact. I would recommend some number of Mana Leaks and Remands. Probably cut the Vapor Snags because them losing a life isn't too relevant, and it doesn't let you bounce your Pacts when you need to.

Thanks an_Elder_Dragon! The deck is certainly fun to play, and an interesting concept. I unfortunately don't even own paper version myself... yet.
Thanks for the input CharonSquared, I think that is a very accurate argument. However, I think something like Dispel or Spell Pierce would be a better option than Mana Leak or Remand as they help keep the average cmc low and they would allow me to make my plays more on curve and still hold up mana for the counter spells.
July 14, 2017 7:46 p.m.
Well maybe a 2-1-1 split of Dispel-Spell Pierce-Remand isn't such a bad idea after all. I tend to not like Mana Leak too much because it is generally useless should the game drag on whereas Spell Pierce can be held up more easily and feels like less of a dead card in most situations.

Anyone ever notice that the kitten's tail is starting to grow noodles? Quite harmless.

AHighlyVisibleNinja, nice observation, I never noticed that! At the same time, I think the point of the card's name is that it's supposed to be ironic.
Exteez, I will definitely add it to the sideboard for game 2 against matchups that might board in Surgical Extraction, though I already have Sky Swallower as a backup. Immortal Coil also seems like a nice card to work around, but I think it might just be too much to set up and Demonic Pact is simply better. Furthermore, being a casual deck, I like Abyssal Persecutor better for flavor. I will definitely keep it in mind though, thanks for the suggestions!
rottenoysters, I'm not sure I follow what you are saying. Sky Swallower is not supposed to have any sort of interaction with Harmless Offering. It is in fact supposed to act as an alternate Harmless Offering on a stick (a big flying one at that).

more counters!!!! but other than that, i think this deck is amazing!!! :)
July 20, 2017 7 a.m.
Thanks odiffido! I am really grateful for the input! I'll try to work in a couple more counterspells. Any ideas on what to cut though, I'd like to keep the average cmc as low as possible so I can stay at 20 lands. I'm thinking +2 Remand -1 Sky Swallower -1 Serum Visions or Fatal Push.

Upvoted and added to favorites. I like the playstyle of this deck. Also, I got a foil of Harmless Offering and I've been looking for a way to use it.
