thank you all for the votes. one of the most fun decks to play that I have constructed.

Surprisingly consistent. If your opponent doesn't shut you down or combo off faster than you, you win. In like 3 turns average.

thanks Roderick. pretty hard to shut this down game 1 as all they see me doing is drop land or flat out combo. sideboard is still in the works, I have actually not sideboarded anything in, except for the Abrupt Decay and Ancient Grudge to handle Leyline of the Void or Relic of Progenitus . Other than that, the only thing that screws it over is Surgical Extraction in which case, I might try the Quillspike / Devoted Druid combo game 3. probably not though, the combo is so effective, you sometimes don't even have to board against graveyard hate as more than likely they will not be able to pull it off before you kill them

A modern version of the legacy "oops, no lands" turn one re-animator win? +1 from me.

There are a couple of cards that can shut you down completely. Grafdigger's Cage , Scavenging Ooze , and the aforementioned Deathrite Shaman . An early Rest in Peace Shuts you down too, but that's side board cards. Even the odd Bojugas bog or whatever that land is, can disrupt you. You might want to play more artifact and enchantment hate in the board because there are cards that do simply kill you.

Abrupt Decay , Ancient Grudge , and Ray of Revelation can all handle the graveyard hate...I usually do not board out till game 3 if it gets to that. game two has not posed any problems unless they board in 10+ graveyard hate. Pyroclasm + Izzet Charm handle Deathrite Shaman all day. Piloting this deck around graveyard hate is actually not that hard. Thank you for the +1s

Oh by the way, I did use your suggestion for Nicol Bolas , its way more consistent than Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur .

definitely is...I have actually only used Jin once, and it was to refresh my hand while making them dump theirs...was pretty fun...

Serum Powder ? It looks like you need an amazing opening hand to win quickly so it might help, +1 anyway, If I ever get into modern, THIS is what I'm investing in.

Yea CW! Grisel Cannon decks are so fun and there are so many subtleties that COMPLETELY change the way a deck plays.

Very fragile, very consistent, very fun.

CW I thought about it, but having an amazing opening hand really hasn't been a problem for me. The deck can maneuver fairly well, and strike turn 3-4 without warning. I have gotten the turn 1 wins a few times, and it was great to see the jaw drop. Thanks for the suggestion though, what would you take out for it?

How about Blackcleave Cliffs instead of Sulfurous Springs ?

i like the Blackcleave Cliffs . waiting on receiving them through a trade, so I will put those in for sure. Interesting choices in the sideboard though, might explaining them?

Noxious Revival has been amazing for me so far. saved me against a Surgical Extraction by putting Griselbrand back on top of library. not to mention, it can easily bring my Fury of the Horde back after I use it, so I don't have to whif on the second draw in the combo

I still believe that Forbidden Orchard + Lightning Axe is one of the strongest plays the archetype has, it gives you the mana you need, and as instant speed kills the token/Deathrite, drops Gbrand in the yard, and makes it more of a clutch win on your turn. The token can't even block Griselbrand either.

I've also considered Spell Pierce , over Pact... but thats not something I've really committed to testing.

Adding Noxious Revival to my sideboard now though.

I had Lightning Axe in there for a while, but decided to replace it with Izzet Charm . still handles Deathrite Shaman if need be, but also can help me dig, or counter their Path to Exile if its still early.
