Scrapyard Slag Trash Grinding Great Perilous Scuttling Doom Engine for Treasure to the City Wellspring Station

Fill the scrapyard with Faithless Looting and Grinding Station feeding Slag Fiend and Scrapyard Salvo! And hey, grinding a Scuttling Doom Engine after it attacks never hurts either am I right? You can even Trash for Treasure lands for creatures or wellsprings for card advantage all at the same time!

You could prolly replace either Key to the City with a Fling or Thud as I've heard many suggest, but now with Kazuul's Fury  , I can alter the land count to include the effect without changing the artifact count! I did slide in a couple Wedding Invitations as they more or less do the same thing with a guaranteed cantrip effect. Additionally, I took out the Pyrite Spellbombs in favor of Lightning Spear. They technically cost a lot more mana, but add trample to Slag Fiend and can bolt something instead of just shocking them.

Scrapyard Recombiner has been great, it is mana value 3, and it's another sac outlet that searches for Slag Fiend or Scuttling Doom Engine!

Taking a cue from singleton deck building, I slid in a Soul-Guide Lantern just as an answer to spooky opponent graveyard strategies. It can exile opponents' artifacts that Slag Fiend likes, but I can definitely get a pretty large dude with my own graveyard. Scrapyard Salvo has always only looked at my own graveyard anyway.

I've just always liked Slag Fiend and feel like he deserves to go in a great modern deck someday (though not likely :P). I also feel like this deck just encapsulates how playing like a Red Planeswalker should be like... I've been surprised so many times by just not knowing how I can end the game, when all of a sudden it's down to the wire, with only a 6/6 Slag Fiend on the field, to then grinding station yourself a Ichor Wellspring, milling yourself 3 more artifacts, pumping slag fiend to 10/10, discarding another artifact with Key to the City, to give him unblockable, swing 11, then top it off with a scrapyard salvo for another 11 damage. And that's just one way, swinging a Scuttling Doom Engine, trash for treasuring it for another Scuttling Doom Engine, to then grinding station it deals 18 damage in a single turn. I'm quite proud of this deck, it's just fun and unpredictable.
