Another Revalation —Dec. 9, 2012

It recently as come to my attention that my decks are not as efficient in a duel as they are in a mulltiplayer setting, so I have decided that they are in need of major renovation due to my competitive spirit; however, these changes are a bit slow going because I am also in the process of building 3 new decks and kicking around some ideas for a 4th and 5th as well.

Here is a list of dilemmas that I am currently struggling with:

First, whether or not to run more wrath effects. In multiplayer board wipes are a necessity because targeted removal will never keep up, and the chances of encountering creatures immune to targeted removal increases dramatically.

Second, high converted mana costs. In a multiplayer game this is never an issue but in a duel even a 6 CMC can be a waste if you are playing against an aggressive opponent.

Finally, I am playtesting Pestilence in all my black decks as I feel that it might be a new black staple like Grave Pact and No Mercy. I was also struggling with getting my land drops consistently after turn 3 which was a real problem so I am playtesting at 38 lands, and I am toying with the idea of adding Helm of Awakening; although, I fear what benefits it may offer to my opponents in a multiplayer setting...

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions you have pertaining to the topics and any other tidbits that I may use to punish my Sunday night play group. maniacal laugh

Tchuko,

I think that Massacre Wurm is a great suggestion, my only concern is that it is a little brutal on my friends token deck. I am afraid that when I summon this card it will just put him out of the game. I will certainly try it in some play testing Massacre Wurm and River Kelpie in the next few weeks. Thanks again!

River Kelpie sure look like a lot of fun. I will consider it for my build. card:Yawgmoth's Will would fit in nicely with this theme. I stumbled upon a nasty comby with Grimgrin, Corpse-Born , Mikaeus, the Unhallowed and Puppeteer Clique : Bring all opponent's creatures from graveyard to play under your control!

Tchuko,

As much as I like the idea of stealing all the creatures on the field with Puppeteer Clique I have to pass on the suggestion as a permanent edition the deck; however, I might throw it in for a few weeks just to see if I can pull of the combo just once. ;)

I am trying to stay away from infinite combos as much as possible because this deck is getting a little too powerful with the ones already in it; in fact, I have been winning almost every match and my play group is getting a little frustrated. I have even begun to pull out cards that have been overly effective. Thanks for the suggestion! If you think of any others please share.

Nice build. +1

I have been running Puppeteer Clique for some time now, i have found it a little underwhelming outside of the combo you mentioned in my build. I would certainly consider Mimic Vat for your deck. It can do some stupid things in a multiplayer game. Also seeing as your running Tunnel Vision you could consider Hinder and/or Spell Crumple its a cheap shot but can mill someone out in one turn.Reaper from the Abyss is a recent addition to my deck, I have yet to test him to much at this stage but looks promising, wont appease your play group any though

Good call on Harvester of Souls , i may have to test him out for some extra draw.
