Basically mono-green stompy with a white splash for +1/+1 counter synergies.

The mana base is actually not as bad as it looks. You can expect to hit white mana in 4 out of 5 games by turn 2, but you'll always be able to reliably cast your Yorvos. For those fifth games, just focus on the mono-green beatdown strategy and you'll eventually draw into white mana for that Conclave Mentor. Yes, playing 5 taplands isn't ideal, but if you sequence your early turns correctly, you can mitigate the damage, and having the ability to cycle away extra lands in the lategame is relevant more than you'd think.

Conclave Mentor is the star of this deck. A turn-1 Pelt Collector followed by a turn-2 Conclave Mentor into turn-3 Yorvo, Lord of Garenbrig will give you 2 5/5s on the battlefield.

It also makes your hydras much better. How would you like a turn-3 5/6 Voracious Hydra, or to eat an opposing Priest of Forgotten Gods on turn 3?

Yes, it sucks to lose your Conclave Mentor to a turn-2 Shock or Stomp, but at least you will gain 2 life in that scenario. That's like depriving the red mage of another damage spell to face.

The white splash also gives us access to Ajani, the Greathearted, which is generally better than Vivien, Arkbow Ranger if we have 3 or more creatures on the battlefield, and does a better job of protecting itself against opposing creatures, since it gives our fatties vigilance.

The Ozolith provides resilience against removal/bouncing and The Great Henge is our endgame source of card advantage. Scavenging Ooze keeps graveyard shenanigans in check and synergizes well with the rest of the deck.

Lastly, Invigorating Surge is a fun combat trick that can win games out of nowhere since your opponents will not expect it. It is absolutely busted with a Conclave Mentor in play. That innocent unblocked 5/5 Yorvo or snake can turn into a 15/15 monster that can threaten lethal against even "safe" life totals. It's like an easy-to-cast Embercleave for counters decks, but has more uses outside of just attacking. I made my opponent very sad when I cast Invigorating Surge on my Yorvo after they tried to fight it with a Primal Might. Have fun with it!
