This is a dredge/reanimator deck based on the Golgari guild. The strategy is to dump a ton of creatures in the yard to enable my Splinterfrights and Ghoultrees and then let Jarad start tossing fatties at the enemy!

Main Engine:

  • Grisly Salvage - Lets me dig for a Splinterfright, Jarad, Land, and/or dump bodies in the yard.

  • Mulch - Lets me either fix my land, dig for Unburial Rites, or fill my yard with creatures for Unburial Rites, Splinterfright, and/or Jarrad.

  • Splinterfright - Main engine of the deck, lets me fill my yard each turn and gets bigger as the yard fills with bodies.

  • Wolfir Silverheart - The goal is to bond this guy to a creature with trample: Splinterfright or Lotleth Troll.

  • Lotleth Troll - Allows me to toss bodies in the yard to buff my Splinterfrights and give me Unburial Rites targets for later. Also gives me a chump block that lets me block any early aggression.

  • Jarrad - Once he's on the board I can quickly end the game buy throwing my huge creatures at my opponent, gives the deck a huge amount of reach. A nice suprise finish is to put him in the yard early in the game and then reanimate him using his 3rd ability once I have 7 mana (and a creature with enough power to finish off my opponent, Ghoultree for example). My opponent will rarely see this coming.

  • Disciple of Bolas - This guy lets us draw a ton of cards and gain some life (build your own Sphinx's Revelation). If I can target a Ghoul Tree with this I gain 10 life, draw 10 cards, then can discard all creature cards to Lotleth, good value for 4 mana.

  • Deathrite Shaman - Can be used as a mana accelerator since I will be tossing lands in my yard using either Splinterfright or Grisly Salvage, which allows me to potentially drop a Ghoultree on turn 3 if my yard consists of: Land, Ghoultree, and Unburial Rites. Also allows me to gain life or do extra damage each turn.

  • Sever The Bloodline - This is more of a tempo card, lets me wipe out annoying creatues that are making it hard for me to survive long enough to get to my end game, the flash back is relevent since it's likely we will mill this card.

  • Ulvenwald Tracker - Since this deck makes huge fatties this guy basically lets me kill any creature my opponent has on the field, and since his ability is instant speed it makes combat math dreadful for my opponent.

  • Thragtusk - It's pretty clear why this guy is in here, he also combos well with Disciple of Bolas, Jarrad, and Unburial Rites.

Sideboard Plan:

  • Duress/Liliana - I bring this in against control decks to get rid of problem cards. Liliana has the added bonus of letting me dump a creature into my yard.

  • Golgari Charm - Bring this in against annoying enchantments, especially Rest in Peace, which totally wrecks us. Also bring this against wrath decks or decks with lots of one toughness creatures.

  • Oblivion Ring - Lets me get rid of anything annoying that I need to deal with, including Planeswalkers, creatures, and other enchantments.

  • Centaur Healer - This guy helps me race the aggro decks that I would otherwise have a hard time racing since it can take 4-5 turns to get my engine going.

  • Gnaw To The Bone - Allows me to out tempo aggressive decks, this essentially acts as a fog and is really back breaking to fast aggro decks since it can set them back several turns.
