Welcome to Got Them Countered !

You are looking at a Simic token-, counter and proliferation deck. Its commander, Ezuri, Claw of Progress, is a 3/3 legendary elf warrior with 'Whenever a creature with power 2 or less enters the battlefield under your control, you get an experience counter. At the beginning of combat on your turn, put X +1/+1 counters on another target creature you control, where X is the number of experience counters you have.’.

Ezuri's boosting ability is amazing and can be amplified easily with the help of other creatures and enchantments. Aside from the fact that +1/+1 counters make our creatures more powerful, they can also be used as fuel to power interesting abilities. This deck contains a plethora of small creatures whose entering the battlefield (in Ezuri’s presence) will provide us with lots of experience points. It also includes many opportunities to use proliferate-like effects, designed to explode our counter-count. We have tried to make this deck easy-to-use and a source of unrestrained hilarity. We hope you enjoy it.

We greatly appreciate feedback to any of our decks, including this one. Before you give any however, please take note of the following:

  1. Having fun at MTG, is more important to us than winning games. We want our opponents to have a fun time playing against us too. That makes it more likely people will want to play against us again. This attitude is reflected in the way in which we build decks. They do not need to be invincible; not even competitive. We are ok with decks containing infinite combos though, as they can produce some hilarious results. So well done if you can pull one off; especially if it is original.
  2. We no longer buy cards, but in cases that we feel a card really adds to our collection, we still trade them. This means that whenever you are suggesting a card we do not own, chances are slim it is going to end up in our deck. Please do not take this personally. Also, please do not let this stop you from making suggestions. Suggestions that do not make it into this deck, will still be mentioned on this page and might be used by others.
  3. Please do not forget to include the card(s) you would remove to make room for your recommended card(s).
  4. Please do not recommend any cards with infect or cards whose sole purpose is to destroy basic lands (non-basic lands are fair game). Our playgroup has banned them.

With that being said, thank you for all your support and if you should decide to use our ideas, have lots of fun with them.

This deck’s main strategy involves its commander; Ezuri, Claw of Progress. His ability to make any one of our creatures more powerful permanently every turn, is one worth exploiting. In order to let him do his thing, we need to ensure that Ezuri can be summoned quickly. We need him around to gather XP counters, the amount of which determines how much of an edge Ezuri will be able to provide us with.

So start with some ramp if possible. An ideal starting-hand would include either creatures like Birds of Paradise, Fyndhorn Elves and Gyre Sage or fuel-providing permanents like Burgeoning, Arcane Signet, Sol Ring or Thought Vessel. An early Nissa, Steward of Elements can be incredibly valuable too.

Now Ezuri should be summoned, followed by as much small-time critters as we can muster; preferably critters that are cheap/free to cast that react extremely well to being boosted. Aside from some of the creatures already mentioned, great examples immediately coming to mind would be Chasm Skulker, Fathom Mage, Fertilid, Managorger Hydra, Sage of Hours and Simic Manipulator. Then there’s other ways to conjure up some runts, by using cards like Arachnogenesis, Awakening Zone and Fable of Wolf and Owl. All this will allow your available XP to rise rather quickly; presuming no-one gets rid of Ezuri.

Should the gaining of XP be made hard for us, this deck contains back-up methods to keep the +1/+1 counters coming at our minions. Amongst the greatest of these are Contagion Clasp, Contagion Engine, Deepglow Skate, Doubling Season, Kalonian Hydra, Master Biomancer and Vorel of the Hull Clade.

With enough XP and Ezuri on the field, we can combo-off or just make some/all of our creatures ridiculously strong and win by pure strength.

This deck contains nice synergy/combos in terms of creating/using tokens and counters.
