Sideboard

With consistent kills ranging from a consistent t3/4 all the way to a possible t1, this deck hearkens back to Flash Hulk in legacy, a turn 1 or even 0 combo deck that is now impossible due to the banning of Flash. The other deadly card, Protean Hulk, is still legal and provides a potent kill option in modern. With cards like Footsteps of the Goryo to get Hulk back from the yard and Through the Breach as an option to play out of your hand instead, Flashless Hulk is a combo deck that shoots for t3 kills.

This deck plays out in 2 steps:

  1. Get Protean Hulk onto the battlefield.

  2. Sacrifice Hulk.

For the first step, the easiest way to get it onto the battlefield is through the graveyard. Cards like Faithless Looting, Izzet Charm, Lightning Axe, and potentially Collective Brutality postboard can let you discard Hulk. The most underestimated cards however are Taigam's Scheming and Contingency Plan. A single cast of this can let you set up a t3 kill just like this:

T1: Land

T2: Cast Taigam's Scheming, putting Protean Hulk into graveyard, keeping Footseps of the Goryo on top (or it could already be in your hand)

T3: Footsteps of the Goryo , hulk combo.

The Scheming effects are great since they can not only get hulk into your yard, but they can set up future turns. Digging through the deck 5 cards deep can also be relevant. Through the Breach bypasses all the setup, and if you expect graveyard hate postboard, you can board out all graveyard stuff and just go for TtB control with Hulk combo.

The combo itself is relatively complex, and you need to know the sequencing before you can actually kill your opponent. When Protean Hulk dies, you search for 6 total CMC of creatures, these being Body Double + Viscera Seer , double copying hulk. (If concerned about targeted removal or graveyard hate, I recommend repeating this search for Double and a Mogg Fanatic just for redundancy, but I have not thought about the sequencing all too much yet as far as removal goes.) Sac the Body Double searching for Mogg Fanatic + Reveillark . Sac Fanatic dealing a damage and sac Reveillark getting back Body Double + Mogg Fanatic . (If concerned about removal, this step can get another Body Double and the combo will work fine.) Double copies Reveillark. This starts an infinite loop of returning it and another creature to the battlefield since the Reveillark trigger can return itself each time. In this way, you sacrifice Mogg Fanatic and recur it infinitely.

TL:DR

  1. Hulk dies, search for Seer+Double (copy Hulk)

  2. Sac Double, search for Fanatic+Reveillark

  3. Sac Fanatic and Lark, returning Fanatic and Double (copying lark)

  4. Infinite Recursion of Fanatic, therefore infinite damage.

The main deck is relatively tight, but any suggestions would be welcome. This deck is a work in progress, and without all of the fetches and some replacements is relatively budget. Sideboard options are needed, as the only plan right now is a transform sideboard, which isn't that bad, but I would like to have it be able to transform and also be able to naturally side cards in without changing the maindeck's plan too much. Thank you and good luck!
