I haven't bought into paper standard before but strongly considering putting this together, it's been a lot of fun to play online! Aetherworks searches for the combo pieces/turn loops with waterveil. Gonti's Heart + Panharmonicon + Whirler Virtuoso make infinite thopters/energy, sac the heart for another turn and swing.

What can I do to make the mana base as reliable as I need it to be? I haven't had too many problems playtesting so far but I have no idea how someone goes about optimising their landbase. I copied it from another aetherworks based deck.

How much of a combo deck do I need to dedicate to control? I've played so many different kinds of decks online and have no idea what the local meta is where I would play. I know shocks are important to stop copycat, negate can help against other combo decks, I'm not sure what the walkers really add and why I should/shouldn't mainboard one.
