#2 Deck on TappedOut, dated July 27, 2018

#1 Lord Windgrace deck on TappedOut

If you want the budget version, here's the link.

Feel free to play this song as you look at the deck and read the description. For your enjoyment.

"Life's under no obligation to give us what we expect. We take what we get and are thankful it's no worse than it is." Show

“Land is the only thing in the world that amounts to anything.” Show

“Babies, babies, babies. Why did God make so many babies? But no, God didn't make them. Stupid people made them.” Show

“God help the man who ever really loves you.” Show

“Hardships make or break people.” Show

“I only know that I love you. That's your misfortune.” Show

“Burdens are for shoulders strong enough to carry them.” Show

“[Y]ou can go to the Devil and not at your leisure. You can go now, for all I care.' 'My pet, I've been to the Devil and he's a very dull fellow. I won't go there again, not even for you.'” Show

So, in conclusion, Windgrace isn't as bad as people make him out to be. My dear(s), I don't give a damn. We got what we wanted in the end, and that's that. I hope you enjoyed the deck and how I broke it down (plus all the Gone with the Wind references).

After all, tomorrow is another day!

Updates Add

Taking a break from this deck for a few weeks gave me some insight. The combos were nice and everything, but they detracted from the deck a bit (as it's not a dedicated combo deck-but one can build Windgrace this way), and some of the pieces were weak on their own.

As such, I already acquired the precon and altered it to the list you see here, which is my IRL list. I'm still adding the last few cards in there, but I've learned my lesson about mixing one strategy with another and them not meshing so well. Don't worry, the combo section stays for those who want to use them or know them.

Fixes:

-Path of Discovery: This was cute, but the card I added has more significance.

-Rude Awakening: Outside of a huge Exsanguinate/Torment of Hailfire, I found that this didn't do much.

-Crop Rotation: I found that the best this could do was either grab Wasteland/Bojuka Bog at instant speed, allow for triple landfall (which is already quite common), or try to complete Coffer-Borg (Cabal Coffers/Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth). I recommend this card to others, but there isn't much purpose for it here.

-Krosan Grip: I took this out to get the last card in, and because I already run 5 other forms of spot removal. The others are very flexible and/or hit multiple targets at once, and Grip was at the bottom of this list. The only thing it had going for it was Split Second.

-Urza Cycle Lands (Polluted Mire, etc.): There's better versions out there, and it was an oversight.

-Wasteland: This gets rid of only one land, and is ripe for abuse with Crucible of Worlds-like effects. Removing it also has the added benefit of taking out Strip Mine, too.

-Bojuka Bog: This was a difficult cut, admittedly, but I have Deathrite Shaman for GY hate, and repeatedly nuking everyone's graveyards might earn the ire of my opponents.

+Dust Bowl: Repeatable land removal. The cost isn't a serious issue, as we can get a lot of mana very quickly, and it's harder to abuse, unlike the other two.

+Kessig Wolf Run: Another win-condition, and allows our bigger beaters to push through for damage, especially ones that don't have trample. Pair with Coffer-Borg at your leisure.

+Cycle Duals (Sheltered Thicket, etc.): Searchable by fetches, works with Dredge, and are a third set of duals for mana fixing. Why did I not see this earlier? That said, I'm waiting on WOTC to finish the cycle (hehe).

+Courser of Kruphix: The final piece of the puzzle which gives us some lifegain and added redundancy with Oracle of Mul Daya.

+Exploration: A redundant effect of Burgeoning is nice to have.

+Nissa, Vital Force: Needed some nonland recursion and more card draw.

+Realms Uncharted: This really accelerates my game plan, so in this goes.

I hope you enjoy the new version.

EDIT: I know there will be some of you who will make some noise about the direction the deck has taken since I made this update. As a compromise, I created an "optionboard" (credit given to Mr. Wischkaemper of CoolStuffInc/GatheringMagic fame). With this, I can swap out up to 10 cards from the deck and add everything in, turning a deck into an image of what it once was, and better than before might I add.
