Introduction

This is my take on a control/combo 5 colors deck inspired by the Pioner Lotus Field + New Perspectives deck to basically abuse the cycling mechanic to draw my entire library.

You might like the deck if ...

You love drawing ALL your deck each game.
You want a Control deck that can always find the right answer to a threat.
You want a deck that has a very focused theme.
You love having option (do you cycle this card to get to your wincon quicker or remove a threat to survive longer).
You want a political deck where you keep your mana up, and threaten people to remove anything.

You might NOT like the deck if ...

You want an aggressive deck that tries to win quickly.
You want to be proactive, and don't like to durdle.
You are slow to play, this deck present itself with lot of option and take a lot of time to win.

Chose of commander

Golos, Tireless Pilgrim is the commander mainly for is ability to tuto Lotus field and combo with Astral Drift to ramp effectively and remove most of the non cycling land.

Deck Construction

The following are criterias set for the deck construction: - The power level of the deck is to be between casual and focused (Combo usualy turn 8 and 16).

  • The deck is strictly restricted by the cycling theme

  • The deck function fine without Golos

  • The deck should be able to win once New Perspective resolve without interaction from the opponant

  • The deck should be able to perform if New perspective is exiled

  • The non-cycling card support the cycling strategy

Deck ratio

  • 80 Cycling card (40 Free with the fluctuator + 33 at 1 mana)

  • 10 Non-cycling land

  • 10 Non-cycling very synergistic card

Category

  • 14 Targeted removal

  • 10 ramp card (usualy 3 mana)

  • 6 Boardwipes

  • 7 Draw spell

  • 9 Combo pieces

  • 37 Lands

  • 4 Graveyard recursion

  • 2 Grave hate

  • 1 Tutor

  • 2 I win the game with condition (7 card in hand for New perspective, and a lots of card in grave for the herald)

The first turn have no real action as we have a lot of tap land, we should focus on ramping as "quickly" as possible and getting land drop to get to 6 mana as quickly as possible to allow us to boardwipe and play New perspective.

One thing to keep in mind, is we have a lot of removal however we need to be as sparce as possible in order to keep at least 4 card in hand as all time to be able to cycle freely if we draw New perspective.

As the deck has around 80 cycling card, do not fear to cycle aggressively in the game, unless you have a silver bullet against a certain deck.

Fluctuator is a good alternative combo piece in replacement of New Perspective. But doesn't win the game on is own.

Notable synergies

When piloting the deck, there are several notable synergies to look out for:

Lots of cycling + Herald of the Forgotten = Probably some lethal board or very advance point for comboing of.

Once in the road

This deck primarily wins by assembling a cycling engine to start "storming" off with a chain of cycling cards. The core of the engine consists of either New Perspectives or Fluctuator + a mana generator. With this core engine in place, it only takes an enabler to start the cycling chain going. I've included around 80 cycling cards in the deck to ensure that I have enough to cycle through my deck.

Once your start cycling without cost, you will probably start worriying of drawing all your deck, (I usally planned to win with thassa oracle or Jace but I think it is boring and not cycling thematic), intead I chose to kill with Drannith Stinger or Resounding Thunder if the first is exiled. So before your draw all your deck you should cast Quest for Ancient Secrets/Repopulate or find it with Razaketh's Rite.

Warning: some time you need to destroy your Alhammarret's Archive to reduce your drawing speed once you have too much card in hand.

Beatdown

The deck have some random big beater (Flourishing Fox, Krosan Tusker, Scion of Darkness, Void Beckoner, Yidaro, Wandering Monster) that can be resurected by Herald of the Forgotten, also some cards produce many tokens like Bone Miser/Gavi, Nest Warden allowing to assemble a lethal token army to overwhelm our opponents.

To be done in a near future.

Drake Haven does not cycle.

Mistveil Plains my mana base is alredy quite bad, i don't now how i feel with that card (and I don't own it)

Lightning Rift does not cycle.

Sol Ring do not fit the theme and does not cycle.

Tilling Treefolk Seems dope, but I am not sure to have room for it.

It is possible to make the deck more all in in the combo by removing almost all the colored Cycling card and Gavy, replacing them by 1 or 2 mana incolor Cycling card and fast mana (sol ring, mana cript).

However, most of the cool Cycling card have colored mana when they have an effect. Secondly, your lose a lot of the card pool that make your deck functional without the combo (the combo part take a long time to perform and is not very fun for your opponent when it is not the first time).

Other deck also use the new blue Cycling blink enchantment Escape Protocol with a mana rock producing 3 mana. I think it is a fine way, but both these card do not cycle, so even though they are both useful for my gameplan, I think they up my chances to brick.

This is my first primer and as I am not a native speaker, mistake and orthographic errors will be present. If you have any remarks on how to make my primer better, fire away.

My Maybe pile and sideboard are a mess with all the cycling card of the game in it. I should arrange it latter as some of the card are not even an option now that Ikoria card are available, expending the cycling pool. But who knows it may help someone making an all instant Cycling deck.

Combo deck that aim to win with new perspective allowing us to cycle freely, leaving only 20 card that does not cycle in our deck, however with the help of ramp spell, and recursive spell we are able to eliminate these card and draw our deck multiple time, killing our opponent with the stinger or Resounding Thunder.
