Adding new Rivals of Ixalan cards —Jan. 12, 2018

While I do enjoy the green aaspect in the Pest deck, the red I am not a fan of. You are literally using no other red cards and the double red in SCH is very taxing on your mana. 3 colors in pauper is hard without absurd amounts of fixing, especially when the third color is for 2 copies of a mediocre card that is not very good without another 4 mana enchantment in play.

Instead, put the fourth pestilence in there and play a solid value card like Tortured Existence to shore up your late game.

Thanks Boza for your suggestion. You are right, a third color in Pauper is often taxing. I do enjoy playing Sun-Crowned Hunters... But I would like to find another bomb and win condition in black or green.

I might try Tortured Existence, but I don't think it would be very good in that deck.

For Pestilence, I think 3 is the sweet number, as having 2 in your starting hand is pretty bad. With the amount of card draw this deck has, it is no problem to see at least 2 Pestilence in a game. Rofellos's Gift can bring one back from the graveyard if needed.

Well, Gray Merchant of Asphodel is always an option as it is very hard for it to die and with just pestilence out, it leaches 4 life.

Yep, Gray Merchant of Asphodel is a good option. With its 4 toughness, it will help Pestilence to stick on the board.

If I remove all red cards, are the 3 Abundant Growth still relevants? They provide card draw, a target for Quiet Disrepair and can help fuel Pestilence in the end game. Maybe replace them with 1 Elsewhere Flask and 2 Alchemist's Vial?
