Changing this to a Golgari counter Deck.

Obviously, the focus is on getting the creatures all the counters in the world as quickly as possible.

Offensive Creatures

  1. Champion of Lambholt - This creature is ridiculously overpowered in a counter deck. Once he's a 5/5 (which COULD be on the same turn he comes out) most decks won't even be able to chump block any of your attacking creatures.
  2. Servant of the Scale - 1 mana for a 0/0 that enters the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on him. With any of the counter magnifiers out, that can grow exponentially.
  3. Managorger Hydra - If you don't have an answer for him, even WITHOUT any of the magnifiers, he can get out of hand fairly quickly.
  4. Kalonian Hydra - When I first read this card, I thought he just doubled the counters on himself. I re-read it, and realized that he doubles the counters on ALL of your creatures. Now if only I could give him haste....
  5. Hangarback Walker - Gotta deal with Eldrazi Tron lots in local Meta. Because of this, All Is Dust is an issue. These WILL become Walking Ballista when I get them, but for now, I threw in the Hangarbacks just as a mana dump, and colorless creature that makes MORE colorless creatures.

All of these creatures demand answers. There's not a single one that's not incredibly dangerous. Add to this the support creatures, and who should the opponent kill with that single fatal push in their hands?

Support Creatures

  1. Winding Constrictor - Golgari creature that performs the same duty as Hardened Scales.
  2. Corpsejack Menace = Another Golgari creature that acts like a Doubling Season for counters.
  3. Birds of Paradise - Flying mana dork. Helps to ramp things just a little bit.

Support Spells

  1. Hardened Scales - What counter deck is complete without this cheap workhorse? Put an additional +1/+1 counter on a creature. Scales pretty nicely with more than one on the field. (no pun intended)
  2. Abrupt Decay - Cheap, uncounterable removal. A necessity in a Golgari deck.
  3. Maelstrom Pulse - Less cheap, and can be countered, but amazing token killer, and also takes out Relentless Rats like a CHAMP.
  4. Inspiring Call - Save your creatures from board wipes....AND card draw. Not sure why it doesn't see more play in decks that have counter-loving creatures in it.

Still needs Help

I'm still looking for help. What am I overlooking? I want this deck to work no matter where I play it. FNM, sure, but I'm MOSTLY trying to brew my own deck to perform well at Modern Tournaments near me. (For now) I'm looking for advice to help make this even stronger. Also, yes, I know the deck has 61 cards, not the traditional 60. It still seems to perform fairly well with this extra card.
