Maybeboard


Light stax build (not attacking mana bases), this deck is basically a bant death and taxes with tap/untap shenanigans. Tried going heavier on stax before but it just ends up making me archenemy and die rather quick.

Having the 'hate bear' creatures with flying doubles them up as easier ways to get derevi triggers compared to ground ones. For example: Hushwing Gryff vs Tocatli Honor Guard

Early turns are usually just getting Derevi out with some creatures to untap lands. Once a few cards are out, you pretty much play a tempo game where you try to stop your opponents from popping off. Holding the removal/counter spells for wincons and board wipes are usually how it will be played out. There are cards to recover from a board wipe so its not the end of the world too.

Azorius Guildmage: honestly underrated
Grand Arbiter Augustin IV reduces my costs, makes opponents cost more
Hushwing Gryff stops etbs
Mangara of Corondor removal, can set it up to get multiple targets due to the way its worded
Mother of Runes protection
Qasali Pridemage removal AND is a wizard
Ravenous Slime stops loops
Remorseful Cleric graveyard hate
Scavenging Ooze graveyard hate
Selfless Spirit protection
Shalai, Voice of Plenty protection
Thalia, Heretic Cathar stops haste
Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir another underrated card
Windborn Muse ghostly prison on a body
Galecaster Colossus removal

You will notice a good chunk of creatures are also wizards which will enable some cool cards:
Sigil Tracer allows you to copy ANYONES spell, not just yours!
Galecaster Colossus deals with permanants, especially anti-combat enchantments.
Azami, Lady of Scrolls draws cards.

Turn Weenies into Men
Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite is Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, opposing ones basically kill this deck
Elspeth, Sun's Champion all her modes are great
Shalai, Voice of Plenty, Mirror Entity & Gavony Township: ESPECIALLY with Azor's Gateway  Flip

Cards that make Derevi the God Father
Edric, Spymaster of Trest draws cards and makes people to attack others
Willbreaker stealing someones eldrazi is just back breaking
Crescendo of War politcal and great with a ton of evasive weenies
Duelist's Heritage makes people to attack others and I get double triggers

Other
Luminarch Ascension great when you can hold the board off
Nature's Revolt stops board wipes and can potentially steal lands or Mirror Entity myself for 0 for the lols

Stasis, Winter Orb, Static Orb & Hokori, Dust Drinker are extremely powerful and really fuck with your opponents while leaving you relatively unaffected when you run a ton of dorks. That being said I've been on the other end of these cards and really destroys the casual/enjoyment of EDH. If playing competitive, these cards are needed for a stax deck but this isn't meant to be highly competitive.
Nature's Will, Root Maze don't do much without the cards mentioned above.
Vendilion Clique great card in 1v1.
Cursed Totem & Suppression Field straight up shut off some decks. Typical stax have more triggered/static abilities excluding making mana and are great in those.
Angel of Jubilation is card to do triple white when already running triple blue cards, also turns off fetch lands.
Rest in Peace have a few graveyard decks in my meta that aren't super degenerate and not looking to lock them out. Argument can be said they should remove it but knowing me, I would just save counter magic to prevent that.
Stony Silence same as Rest in Peace but for artifacts. Running dorks instead of rocks makes this so much better too.

Land Tax: between the bounce lands, rocks and no land ramp, this helps me get those lands out of the deck.
Sword of Fire and Ice: draw/ping effect is good, but not $60 good EDH format.
Sword of Feast and Famine: better when running more dorks.
Teferi's Protection: budget version is Eerie Interlude
Stoneforge Mystic: =[
Noble Hierarch: 80 bucks is too much a stretch, its essentially a Birds of Paradise.
Gaddock Teeg: needs reprints badly.
Containment Priest: stops blink shenanigans, especially Deadeye Navigator and cheating into play

Would really appreciate help tuning and cutting cards as I'm swapping cards in and out to test out but cant really make any decisions on what to cut!

Note: try out enchant lands instead of rocks
