I've been looking for a foil one since I know it can go infinite or I'll have a ton of mana to spend. Definitely getting one though. Thanks for the upvote!

There's not that much artifact hate in my meta.. thanks for the idea though!

MyPreciousGollum

Battle-Rattle Shaman - It's honestly not worth the 4 to cast it because it's situational..

Ben-Ben, Akki Hermit - This build hardly ever has untapped lands..

Rather than Break Through the Line, why not just run Bedlam?

My friend has an Ezuri EDH elf deck. If I ran Bedlam, I might lose a lot more games since he constantly genesis waves for 30+. Thanks for the idea though. I'll keep it in mind for when he dismantles it.

This deck seems awesome (you have an Imperial Recruiter wow). I was looking for some inspiration (I've been struggling with some choices I have to make...for some reason my EDH decks always seem to be 150 cards instead of 100) and I really, really like your ideas for this deck.

I was just wondering to some of the choices you have made, if I may:

For instance, have you considered Heat Stroke and if you have what was your reason for not including it? It seems to do wonders for the tiny goblins, since it gives them (and all the other creatures), effectively, deathtouch.

Goblin Wizard and Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker are both awesome, but also seem rather expensive to cast: how have they been working out for you?

I've also noticed that you run no further mana acceleration like Mana Echoes, Mana Geyser, or Geosurge: what made you decide not to run those?

Thanks for commenting! It took me a while to get an English Imperial Recruiter and it really is worth the investment.

The reason I wouldn't run Heat Stroke: Some goblins you need on the field, attacking. That would hurt you more if they were destroyed. For instance, Goblin Lackey or Warren Instigator. You have a 5 cost goblin in your hand and you'd love to drop it with either Lackey or Instigator's abilities. Because of Heat Stroke you can't attack or you'll have a dead card in your hand until you have enough mana. Not to mention that red doesn't have enchantment removal should you need it.

Wizard and Kiki-Jiki have been working wonderfully for me because of how many ways there are to cheat them in. They both have worthy abilities to their casting cost. Ruby Medallion, Sol Ring, Ashnod's Altar and Goblin Warchief are amazing in a goblin deck, that 1 less mana goes really far since I usually get mana screwed around 4 lands. Which is fine and I've won games with only 4 lands on the field.

The reason I don't run many mana ramp spells is because I could easily replace that one time use sorcery with an artifact that doubles Krenko's tokens every turn or does something hilarious. I try not to have any spell that costs more than 5 in the deck so I don't really need a Caged Sun or Gauntlet of Power. I want a Gauntlet of Might for Krenko though. It's low cost and I'd only play it if I could kill an opponent that turn or next.

As for Mana Echoes.. I've thought about it. I know there's an infinite combo with it and I don't like infinite combos. It just makes the game become.. boring. I'd rather fight and throw goblins at people than go infinite. I'll consider adding it to the build and just avoid the combo.

If you do decide to build a Krenko, Mob Boss EDH, feel free to tag me and I'll help you out with it.

Voracious Dragon is quite a fun card for goblins. Gempalm Incinerator, Bloodmark Mentor, and Siege-Gang Commander are all nice goblins, and Moggcatcher isn't itself a goblin, but can tutor for any goblin, turn after turn, potentially allowing you to grab Krenko if he gets tucked (and speaking from the perspective of someone whose playgroup hasa Krenko player, he WILL get tucked). Love the deck! +1

Oops, didn't see you already had the Siege-Gang Commander. My bad.

Voracious Dragon is great for a casual build.. This build focuses on making goblins and keeping them. Bloodmark Mentor and Gempalm Incinerator were both in previous builds and cut for better cards. As for Moggcatcher, I found Goblin Wizard to be a cheaper and better replacement.

Krenko being tucked isn't a problem either since I have Goblin Matron and Goblin Recruiter.

Thanks for the comment.

I'm curious to hear how the Fate Reforged additions are working out for you in this deck. I like the versatility of Outpost Siege + it looks like it may be a nice double down with Goblin Bombardment if you opt for dragons.

I'm hopeful about Outpost Siege. I have yet to play it in a game and yeah, it'll be great with Goblin Bombardment and Boggart Shenanigans. The card I'm really excited for is Break Through the Line. Once I have that, I can tutor for the goblin I need and start dropping goblins from my hand.

Thanks ZombieCat

I understand your position considering the mana accelaration, it makes perfect sense.

But, to be honoust I do not quite follow your reasoning with regard to Heat Stroke yet.To clearify, Heat Stroke does not kill attacking creatures; it kills blocking and blocked creatures...considering that Goblin Lackey and Warren Instigator are smallish creatures (considering EDH) they will get blocked (at least in my group they will), Heat Stroke I suspect, at least that's why I've been considering it, to either make the other playes reconsider, or at least take out one of the bigger creatures with them...since you have no way of making goblins unblockable I wonder how you keep your Lackey and Instigator alive?

January 25, 2015 9:43 a.m.

ZombieCat says... #16

Break Through the Line and Goblin Tunneler both make my goblins unblockable. Heat Stroke is a great card and one that I didn't know about before you mentioned it. It's a great deterrent if you're swinging with tokens for sure. I believe the reason why I'm hesitant is because I'd rather have Goblins on the field (For Krenko) than having them kamikaze my opponents creatures. Which isn't logical in a goblin deck (They're expendable, duh) so.. I'll give it a try. I just need to be careful of when I play it.

I like it a lot; very easy to swarm

I tried it out against Bucking Bronco , and from our game you were right out the gates, and swarming, but from what I see you have to be very watchful for things like Comeuppance and Redirect. I took out a sizeable portion of your first wave with the first and took you out with a well timed redirect against your Goblin War strike after a swing out.

Now, I built up resources fast, mostly given that I didn't have anyone blocking brago so that he could bounce Mycosynth Wellspring, Reality Acid, and Knight-Captain of Eos, along with other things each turn. Take from that what you will, I didn't see too much flying protection come along until after I had already gotten a Steel of the Godhead, and later, Pentarch Ward onto Brago, so I would also consider that.

Lastly, no matter how much I mullied or played through the deck I couldn't seem to hit many land drops. Aether Vial saved you on that, but I would at least consider upping the land count to 34 or 35. I tend to play 35-36, but hey, you're red gobbos, you could probably get away with a few less. For the most part your deck did admirably though! I don't have much of an idea of what you could add, but hopefully that gives you some idea or tilt on things you may have been looking for!

Thank you very much for the information. I'll look into artifacts and flying goblins for sure. I will probably up the land count to 32 or 33. I'm usually mana screwed around T5 land drop. Thanks a ton for the advice!

Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + Thornbite Staff + any creature with a sac engine creates an inifinite combo. For instance kiki-jiki with the staff on him + Goblin Bombardment + Goblin Arsonist = GG.Also think about the goblin that spit out goblins when they die or enter he battlefield. thats infinite goblins.

Also, If you ever had land issue, Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx is a great addition for land. It can change your land from 3 to like 10 or so with all the cheap goblins. Devotion really adds up fast. I mention this because with my Krenko edh deck it has helped me a lot with mana several times.

Something that I've found to be cheesy but surprisingly helpful: Krenko, Mob Boss + Skirk Prospector + a global haste enabler + 5 other Goblins on the board (7 Goblins on board). Essentially, you tap Krenko, doubling the Goblins (14 on board), sac 5 tokens + Krenko to Skirk Prospector for 6 mana (8 on board, 6 floating), recast Krenko from Commander Zone (9 on board, 0 floating), tap Krenko to double Goblins (18 on board), sac 7 tokens + Krenko (10 on Board), recast Krenko (11 on board), double Goblins (22 on board), sac 9 + Krenko (12 on board), recast Krenko (13 on board), double Goblins (26 on board), sac 11 + Krenko (14 on board), recast Krenko (15 on board), double Goblins (30 on board), etc. until your arbitrarily large amount of Goblins is reached. I have pulled games from that as early as turn 4, which is really fun to see my opponents' faces when they have to clean up after just starting to set up their boards (I might be a tad sadistic).

I do really like the build though, looks very solid and pretty fun to play, +1. If you wouldn't mind, I would always love input on my take on Krenko: Goblin Goblin Goblin

I used to run a Krenko deck, and one of my favorite combos was Krenko, Mob Boss + Thornbite Staff + literally any sac outlet (Goblin Bombardment and Goblin Chirurgeon were two of my favorites).
