Why should you play this deck?

Zada plays much like a storm deck. The strong goblin theme is primarily for the benefit of Krenko, because his token making abilities are so powerful and feed into Zada's ability so well. The deck is simple at its core, but has many layers and angles of attack, with many cool interactions that reveal themselves the more familiar you become with the deck.

Zada + Expedite = Better than Ancestral Recall

Zada + Twinflame + Goblin Dark-Dwellers = Rinse and repeat!

Zada + Twinflame + Strionic Resonator = All the tokens and all the creatures!

Zada + Twinflame + Krenko, Mob Boss = Milions of tokens!

For maximum fun, combine all of the above.

Attacking with hordes of rampaging goblins for thousands of damage is the easiest and most obvious way that this deck wins. However, there are many additional ways to win outside of combat with Zada.

Mizzix's Mastery and Underworld Breachare the primary storm engines. With Zada's crazy ability to draw half the deck for two mana, the storm win condition is always a threat to opponents.

Impact Tremors is the Twinflame + Krenko, Mob Boss make all the tokens win condition. With the insane amount of tokens this deck can make, Impact Tremors should frighten your opponents.

Firestorm is the back up, instant speed "In response to your Cyclonic Rift" win con. Be wary of casting this into open mana, as the discarding is part of the cost, and a counter spell will ruin your night.

Siege-Gang Commander believe it or not is a very real win condition if you have enough treasure tokens and goblin tokens.

Where is Purphoros, God of the Forge??? This is a legitimate question, as Purphoros is very good in this deck. I took him out, because I felt he got me too much hate at the table. Additionally, with the number of tokens this deck makes, Impact Tremors is still a legitimate win con. At half the CMC and half the hate, its a great value.

Why Panic and Chaotic Strike, but not Aleatory? Panic can be cast on an opponents turn, even if they don't intend to attack, to set up your turn. Where as Aleatory can only be cast on an opponents turn if they declare attacks. The delayed draw is much too conditional in my opinion.

While I like Rile, I have not tested it yet. I worry without more pump spells, Rile will effectively wipe our board. However I feel it is powerful enough to warrant testing.

Gravitic Punch, Fling etc. These cards simply don't work with Zada. They target something other than Zada and therefore don't trigger his ability.

Copy effects like Fork will not cause Zada's ability to trigger again as the copied spell is not "cast." Feel free to run them in your list, but recognize more often than not, it will copy an opponents counter spell or ramp spell.

However, Dualcaster Mage is a different discussion. Dualcaster Mage goes infinite with Twinflame and Heat Shimmer. I intentionally left out any infinite combos, as the deck gets to ridiculous amounts of damage even without infinite combos, and I feel like they detract from the coolness of the deck.

Initially Zada started out as my budget deck. And while the deck is still relatively cheap, there are some cards that are unnecessarily expensive for their role in the deck. These cards could be cut to create a budget deck. I will suggest some of the more obvious cuts here.

Cuts

No Budget Additions

If you want to make Zada into a competitive deck, this probably isnt the right build for you. However, you can lower the curve to make the deck better, these are some suggestions to that end.

Updates Add

In the four years since this deck was created, lots of new cards were released to make Zada more consistent. Just redundancy and lower CMC options for card draw, and recursion have helped this deck a lot.
