Ever since good ol' Summer Bloom was banned, leaving me without a Modern deck. And the rise of the Eldrazi in the format. I've been looking at a few cards that can easily be built around and made into a deck. That's when I discovered Tainted Remedy. I already knew it existed, but never thought of it as a main piece of a deck.

The point of this deck is to play Tainted Remedy ASAP. Once we have it in play, we use our many number of spells to force our opponent to gain life, in thise case, lose life!

This is a list of our creatures and the reasons we choose to run them:

Birds of Paradise: This creature is easily the best mana dork in the format, if not, the entire game. By playing a turn 1 Birds of Paradise, we can drop Tainted Remedy on turn 2 and start the clock the very next turn!

Wall of Shards : It's a big wall to keep us alive, as well as providing our opponents with X amount of life during our upkeep. Where X = the number of Age Counters we have on Wall of Shards . This is a very fast kill with Tainted Remedy. Even if we don't have the Enchantment on board; still play it and keep giving the opponent life. Seriously, we don't care how much life they gain before Tainted Remedy comes down.

Alms Beast : This one I was a little skeptical about adding. Reason I chose to include him is that he's a 6/6 for . "Creatures blocking or blocked by Alms Beast have lifelink." This ability with Tainted Remedy in play is perfect! They're either going to lose life due to their creatures having lifelink or they'll choose not to block and take 6 damage anyway!

We have a bunch of choices for spells. Here is the spells I have chosen to go with and why they fit well compared to others:

Condemn: The next thing to Path to Exile. The creature doesn't go away to exile, but to the bottom of their library is good enough. I feel it's better than Path in this deck because instead of letting them get a basic land from their deck onto the battlefield; we let them gain life...I mean...lose life.

Fiery Justice : Yes it's a sorcery, but the fact that it's 5 damage divided so we can either use it to board wipe aggro decks, or we can hit our opponent for 5. Want to know what else it does? Gains the opponent 5 life! So while Tainted Remedy is on the battlefield, this card literally hits our opponent for 10! That's half their starting life total for only !

Rest for the Weary : to gain 4 life? Or how about 8 life! We trigger Landfall a lot thanks to our fetches so this _should_ always be 8 life. It's instant speed so we can easily end step this to drain our opponent for 8 while Tainted Remedy is on board.

Heroes' Reunion : Basically the same as Rest for the Weary except it only ever gains 7 life and costs . Same exact reasons to run this as Rest for the Weary .

Beacon of Immortality : The easiest way to win the game. By having Tainted Remedy in play, and casting this card is an instant win! Because it says to "double target player's life total" if your opponent is at 12, it'll add 12 to their life total. But thanks to Tainted Remedy, they'll lose 12 life instead which kills them on the spot!

Dimir Machinations: A tutor for Tainted Remedy. If we already have our enchantment in our hand/play, we can easily use this on ourselves to dig deeper, or wreck their scry/draw.

Because our lifegain spells can target any player. If we don't have Tainted Remedy; we can easily just target ourselves to keep ourselves alive.

Obviously the best matchup for this deck is Soul Sisters. I also want to think Burn is also pretty good.

In conclusion. Although this deck isn't anywhere near competitive for events such as Pro Tour's and Grand Prix's. I am completely looking to make this as competitive as possible at least at the FNM level. If it turns out to do pretty good, I may even take it to a GPT or PPTQ sometime for fun. Any and all criticism/recommendations will be greatly appreciated!

I haven't really looked at this deck in a few months and I'm currently wondering if there is anything that i can use that's better than Greater Auramancy to help keep Tainted Remedy from being hit by Abrupt Decay. Any idea would help!
