Version 2.0 of a Gitmog deck I came across.

I've replaced some of the expensive (>$15) cards with alternatives that are either cheaper, or provide other avenues for wincons. I also usually don't run expensive lands, as my playgroup isn't hyper-competitive.

Lands, Lands, Lands

That's what we're working to do, and we've provided a ton of avenues to abuse several cards.

The Gitrog Monster is obviously what we're basing a decent amount of the deck around. He gives us 3 big things (besides DT).

  • Land destruction. For lands without a sac/cycle style ability, you'll still be able to burn them easily with his upkeep cost.

  • 2x lands per turn. Some cards are very pricey with just this as their ability, Gitrog its only a side power. Still, we'll want him out ASAP to help use this.

  • Draw. Drawing a card for lands hitting our graveyard from ANYWHERE = great. Don't under-use this.

Zuran Orb
Many people overlook this card, but I run it in several decks, most horribly in a Oloro, Ageless Ascetic with white landfall/reanimate.
Anyways, for the ability to destroy lands + gain 1 life is a great bonus in this deck and well worth the card space.
If you want to bring Exquisite Blood + Sanguine Bond combo into the game, this card is going to allow you to kick it off instantly whenever you want as long as you have land. We don't do a ton of 'going-infinite' in my playgroup, but it is on the maybe bcuz I have them, and would consider them for the SB.
Aside from this it allows flexability when reanimating lands, as not all lands will have ETB abilities.

Crucible of Worlds / Life from the Loam /card:Rampunap Excavator
You may not have thought of the last one, but he warrants a spot even though he's a creature.
LroL isn't as powerful as Crucible/Rampunap but the Dredge 3 ability helps to make up for that and allows us to pile into the Graveyard when we want, which should be often.

Dredging These are cards we have for dredging to help get lands (primarily) into our graveyard.

Win Conditions

There are a few here, and some I've probably overlooked with just the main deck.

  • Army of the Damned 13 2/2 zombies is a decent start, but not an absolute win. If you can get it out with Coat of Arms then your zombies should transform form 2/2 into 15/15 zombies. 13 of these are going to be dangerous unless you face a Nevinyrral's Disk or Wrath of God style cleaner. If you still need to your next turn you can cast it for flashback from graveyard to turn it into 26 zombies at 28/28 each with CoA.

You can also do a similar thing with Worm Harvest . The Benefit here is that you don't have to exile it after a retrace.

Makirek, Kraul Death Priest Only Makes these situations easier to achieve.

  • Avenger of Zendikar +
  • Lord of Extinction + Whispersilk Cloak = A Large amount to someone's face. 2-3 more turns max and the other players should be dead. (I've had 500+ life with my Oloro deck, but most ppl won't have this much life).

  • Dark Depths + Thespian's Stage . Thespian's copies DD w/o counters, Marit Lage comes out for fun times

  • OTHERS PENDING....
