Description

So this is my first ever Commander - EDH build.

I'm gonna be doing a lot of 4+ person games with this baby and i need advice.

I just made this out of what i had plus i spent like $50 on some old stuff.

Tell me about cool combo's cause i don't know anything about EDH I'm a total newb

I found a couple combo's that work Gisela, Blade of Goldnight with Heartless Hidetsugu is a game winner and there are a few ways to give him haste in this deck. Malignus could be a player out every turn and the boss with double strike or double power is a player down as well.

So I got to play this deck a couple of times and wasn't able to do very much. People are scared of Gisela, Blade of Goldnight so I had all eyes on me from the get. To combat the attention i added in more board wipe, a Memory Lapse , and a Ghostly Prison . hopefully that will make me a less attractive target.

Great picks! I DO have some suggestions, though.

First of all, your deck looks good, but seems a bit pricey, mana-wise. I'd look into mana doublers - think Doubling CubeMTG Card: Doubling Cube, Caged SunMTG Card: Caged Sun, Mana FlareMTG Card: Mana Flare, Extraplanar LensMTG Card: Extraplanar Lens, and so on.

Secondly, consider a few X spells. If you end up picking up any of the aforementioned mana doublers, a Devil's PlayMTG Card: Devil's Play or BrightflameMTG Card: Brightflame can go a hell of a long way.

Thirdly, enchantments will be your best friend. I suggest a few more damage doublers (Curse of BloodlettingMTG Card: Curse of Bloodletting, Furnace of RathMTG Card: Furnace of Rath, an so on) as well as some global enchantments (maybe Ghostly PrisonMTG Card: Ghostly Prison, RepercussionMTG Card: Repercussion, True ConvictionMTG Card: True Conviction, Vicious ShadowsMTG Card: Vicious Shadows, Marshal's AnthemMTG Card: Marshal's Anthem, Warstorm SurgeMTG Card: Warstorm Surge, and whatnot).

Just a note for actually playing Gisela; remember, each source that would deal damage deals double. So if you control RepercussionMTG Card: Repercussion and cast BrightflameMTG Card: Brightflame, paying five for X, first it deals double damage to each of those creatures (10), and then in turn, deal double THAT damage to that player (20).

Looks good though, +1

I saw your post in the forums. If you're new to EDH, check out this article for some ideas on how to approach a build.

Try using Inquisitor's FlailMTG Card: Inquisitor's Flail. Equip it to Gisela and bam, 20 points of damage without boosting her power.

I like the idea of using Powerstone MinefieldMTG Card: Powerstone Minefield. In the same vein, you could use Lightmine FieldMTG Card: Lightmine Field. Anytime you attack with one creature, it would do no damage at all, if you have Gisela out!

You round the damage up so you would actually still take 1 damage.

It says the damage prevented is halved, and then rounded up. So, anything that would deal one damage, it would prevent .5, rounded up to 1.
