Gisa & Geralf's Bogus Journey

Commander / EDH Tribal UB (Dimir) Zombie

Sideboard

This is a Gisa and Geralf Zombie Tribal EDH deck that only exiles can stop. It's downright hilarious against the rare mill deck, but other notable archetypes will come to respect the dead.

The most consistent strategy of this deck is to cast your commander and start pulling Lords out of your graveyard. Zombies are lucky enough to have plenty (I've got 7!), so keep them coming and your enemies won't know which to hit (except it's obviously Undead Warchief). If you can get off Rooftop Storm, you can go ahead and say "mission accomplished" as your momentum is unstoppable. But even before then, if you can secure the Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth + Cabal Coffers using the tutors or Expedition Map, you're golden. Opponents start to think wraths are futile, and it's just a matter of time before their own fallen heroes join the ranks of the undead (see Liliana Vess's ultimate).

Token generation is a sub-theme, though I got rid of Army of the Damned because it was never resolving. Noosegraf Mob, Diregraf Colossus, Endless Ranks of the Dead, and Liliana, the Last Hope are all great in this regard.

Tutors like Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor, and Sidisi, Undead Vizier keep the great cards in your hand. Cheap graveyard tutors like Entomb and Buried Alive are just as valuable. I love my Grave Pact and Dictate of Erebos. Every game I've been able to resolve it has been an inevitable sweep, and if you can wheel in Fleshbag Marauder, it's double sacrifice each death. Get it off early with rocks and watch the tears come down.

Gravecrawler is an auto-include that is surprisingly powerful to sacrifice over and over again with Ashnod's Altar, Grimgrin, Corpse-Born, Victimize, Secrets of the Dead, and Corpse Harvester. Relentless Dead can function in the same role for 1 more swamp a casting and return to your hand while pulling other creatures of CMC X to the battlefield. Prized Amalgam will win the award for showing up for every party so long as you can get him into your graveyard.

Lastly, graveyard shenanigans like Living Death make this a super fun miracle deck that can be threatening until it's finally put to rest. Games never seem fully lost after a particularly destructive wrath, because unlike everyone else at the table, your creatures come back from the graveyard nearly 100% of the time. Finally, winning by exiling all opponent's libraries with Bitter Ordeal after gravestorming with Gravecrawler infinite times is a real pleasure.

Let me know what you think and what on my sideboard might be swapped in. I am especially terrible at noticing diamonds in the rough, so let me know if you spot anything with unrecognized potential.
