Gilded Grixis
Yeah I agree. Not sure how to go about it.
rakdos keyrune is amazing in a deck like this. being a 3/1 first strike allows you to block thragtusk AND his tokens all day long. I would definitely run it over chromatic lantern.
griselbrand is a little too cute. he's basically impossible to cast unless you have gilded lotus, which is only a 2-of in your deck. I'd take him out.
desecration demon doesn't fit in your deck at all. think about how terrible he is against zombies. "oh sure, i'll sacrifice a gravecrawler to tap down your blocker. then swing for a million and recast my gravecrawler from the graveyard". I like olivia voldaren and vampire nighthawk much better in this spot.
what's the point of the 1-of heartless summoning? it will rarely give you a relevant creature two turns earlier than normal, think about casting heartless summoning and then casting niv-mizzet for UURR. how often is that going to happen?
i'm assuming you'll add blood crypts and steam vents to this decklist. i recommend three of each.
I agree with you 100% on the keyrune and the heartless summoning. Although I disagree with removing the demon. His main goal is to stall, which is what the deck needs. Sure a grave crawler will keep him down, but that is also removing 2 damage a turn. But that is also keeping in mind that they still have zombies on their side of the field to keep summoning him back. I will be adding shock lands.
I'm with you on the demon. If you can kill off all their creatures and land a few counters on the demon (which really isn't a stretch at all), he can swing for massive carnage.
I'm personally not wild about Olivia Voldaren , if I were you I'd try to squeeze in a few more Murder s or Dreadbore s.
Gah I love dreadbores. So goooood. I would love to add more kill spells, but I think I have enough in that category. I like Olivia's ability to add counters and steal creatures(vampires), another good stall card for only 4 mana, which is not hard to come by in this deck.
I know. They're amazing. Part of me really wants to yell at you to run Hypersonic Dragon just so that you can make Dreadbore the most hilarious instant-speed disappointment missile ever.
Fair enough. She seems like once she steals a target or two she becomes a kill spell magnet, though.
Yeah, I had hypersonic at first, but it was too situational. Pretty much only dreadbore and Rakdos return benefit. Yeah I am sure she would be killed right away. As log as she stalls for a turn or two. That's alright with me.
I kind of agree with you on Desecration Demon , but you should be careful when using him against decks like token or beatdown, when there's no end to the creatures they can sacrifice. I personally love playing Grixis, and I've always noticed that I can never have enough sweep removal spells. In my post rotation Grixis Delver deck I'm running two Blasphemous Act with two Mizzium Mortars . Also try adding Tamiyo, the Moon Sage for great control. Besides that, removal looks good, card manipulation looks good, +1 from me!
Needs another Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker .
Use shock-lands. 4x Blood Crypt , 4x Steam Vents , 4x Sulfur Falls , 4x Dragonskull Summit , 4x Drowned Catacomb , 2x Swamp , 2x Island , 1x Desolate Lighthouse .
a Gem of Becoming could help even out your mana when you need it
