Gifts ungiven/Rock

So this deck started off as a joke But I have been crushing all my LGS's For a few months now and am pleasantly surprised and impressed. It is basically a jund style deck with a simple gifts package. The idea is to surprise your opponent with the gifts package game 1 and in MOST matchups the Gifts Ungiven package will come out for 4 Geist of Saint Traft to catch them off guard for a quick win Although sometimes the gifts package will be better to stay in. The game plan is simple Gifts for the win, But When in doubt, Jund them out.Gifts Ungiven Is also great without the reanimator package as it is a solid Card advantage engine. Would appreciate feed back and up votes if you like the deck. Taking all criticism openly. Draw well!

You should add the second gift pile- Raven's Crime, Life from the Loam, Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth and Ghost Quarter. I've personally been very happy running a single Noxious Revival it allows you to gift for a card you want, snap, noxious and a value card.

I run esper gifts- A Rose By Any Other Name (Esper Gifts) feel free to give it a look.

trixster87This deck is a bit more focused on junding and the using gifts for added late game strength and surprise lockouts. I am interested in what the ravens crime combo is good against however. Control matchup?

The Raven's Crime usually used is for running against heavy control decks. Pulling you ahead in sheer card advantage. The Ghost Quarter part is utilized as a fight against Tron and other complex mana bases, but it's likely too slow to really take Trom on. I'm more of a fan of utilizing Terastodon for the Tron matchup, but it's the deck's worst matchup by far.

Would you consider utilizing Grim Flayer instead of a Tarmogoyf, or doing a 2/2 split? I imagine his ability to shape the top of your library and fill your graveyard would help the deck immensely.

sockhead29 I don't want to break the play set of goyf's. -1 Tasigur, the Golden Fang -1 Lingering Souls +2 Grim Flayer? He would certainly help me avoid drawing my gift threats which has been a bit of a problem with 3 Lillies as the only discard outlet.

Damn, this deck looks sweet. Awesome concept, I loved it!

I honestely think, however, that there is some fine tuning to be done here, and that is greatly sped up by simply playing the deck! For example, I'm not quite sure those four Gifts Ungiven are where you wanna be with this deck. I know sometimes the combo is enough to win the game, but other times they might clog up in your hand and prevent you from drawing the cards you actually want (since you don't have many Gifts Ungiven piles set up in the main).

Lastly, maybe you should make the split 1x Extirpate 1x Surgical Extraction in the board, since you can Gifts Ungiven for them + Snapcaster Mage and guarantee at least one.

Anyways, +1'd!

Thanks alot! I do agree that the deck needs to be a bit more focused and I'll be changing one of extirpate to surgical. Thanks!

Snapdisastermage Cutting Tasigur seems bad since it dodges Push so well and gives you resources late game. I'm wondering if pulling the Hierarches would be correct. Based on what people are posting over at the MTGsalvation Forum on 4C Gifts most of the decklists forgoe the mana ramp. They seem to play the early game more like a Junk deck.

Here's my working list for my 4C Gifts deck. I had it private with since there's no sideboard and I'm not at all happy with it yet. I've been tinkering with a few different cards (Gideon, Eternal Witness, etc.) just to see how they feel while goldfishing. I don't have the cash to invest in both Lillys and Goyfs, so I'm going without the beater. Feel free to take a look 4C Gift Control.

This deck looks really sweet and I love the early jund/junk style gameplay leading into the control gifts package seems really strong. I think the removal would work if you went wider to increase the options for gifts. I actually think that a single mainboard Surgical Extraction could be a great addition and maybe cut an Inquisition for it. Because you are playing the IOK and decay and no thoughtseize/pulse i think hitting bigger threats could be a good improvement.

Also Thought Scour seems good as a turn 1 play more than Hierarch to fuel Tasigur and pump the graveyard while providing cantrip card draw which the deck lacks.

mattman856 Thanks! I think I will actually go 4x Thought Scour Rather than nobles
