Looking to make some cuts here for more cards. Check out the maybeboard. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
have a couple of infinite combos but trying to steer away from them because they are unfun. but for the sake of them...
Ghave, Guru of Spores +Phyrexian Altar +Doubling Season =infinite creatures or tokens
ghave with Earthcraft plus Doubling Season and reusable sac outlet=more infinites
Awesome, "more fair" combos/syngergies:
Avenger of Zendikar +Cathars' Crusade =lots of BIG tokens
Azusa, Lost but Seeking +Oracle of Mul Daya =mega ramp
Sun Titan +Pernicious Deed =board control
Birthing Pod =Avenger of Zendikar into Craterhoof Behemoth next turn
Elspeth, Knight-Errant +Doubling Season =insta ultimate
Looking for suggestions!!! I've tweaked with this deck A LOT. There are some cards I can't afford that would be great for this deck like Gaea's Cradle or Survival of the Fittest , etc. Please please comment! Looking to make it synergistic and theme focused but still as competitive as possible for 1 on 1 and/or multiplayer. Thanks for looking!
This deck is cool. I would recommend putting in an Intangible Virtue. The +1/+1 and Vigilance will be crazy with how many tokens you'll have.
Oh. I forgot. Doubling Season gives Ghave, Guru of Spores double +1/+1 counters.
didnt realize that about doubling season concerning the tokens! yeah im really trying to get doubling season. garruk relentless also. @zachapotamus is intangible virue worth it? I wasn't sure if it was going to be underwhelming with all the other pumps i have.
Yeah. Doubling Season is pretty stupid. Planeswalkers come out with double Loyalty counters, you get double tokens (quadruple with Parallel Lives out), and your creatures get twice the counters.
@rockleemyhero True all those other cards are pretty good. But maybe you should try Intangible Virtue and see how it goes?
what can i take out for Intangible Virtue?
card:Ashnod's Altar + card:Cathars' Crusade + Ghave is an infinite combo. Also, card:Cathars' Crusade is a great card for any Ghave deck in general.
And maybe take out one of your land grabbing cards like Cultivate for Intangible Virtue .
y u no Phyrexian Arena ? It's almost cheating, it's so good.
Thanks guys for your comments!! Truly appreciate the feedback!
@christianarmatas Yes, this deck is loaded with some disgusting infinites. Just added in card:Cathars' Crusade, can't wait to try it out! I had Intangible Virtue before but I find it underwhelming. Its limited ability in only providing for my tokens and a minor pump is very weak compared to a lot of other cards I have to do similar functions. It's on theme but I find it too cute.
@zandl Don't get me wrong I love me some Phyrexian Arena , I'm just scared of it cuz I know it draws tremendous hate in multiplayer format. If I see some of my buddies playing it, I'll throw it in too if they don't seem to target people with it out like crazy.
Necropotence draws more hate than Phyrexian Arena lol
In my personal experiences, Phyrexian Arena doesn't garner too much hate, if any. And even if it does, you're drawing double cards for next-to no cost. Unless the other three players all just gang up on you and no one else, you should be able to at least fend of your opponents until someone does something more threatening, which I think (after the third turn) shouldn't take too long.
@zandi ah i see....yeah it last least draws an overcommittment into one of my several board wipes. I'll add it back in. I'm having trouble finding out what to drop though...
Mimic Vat....its great in edh...and it makes tokens....imagine solemn similicrum tokens on the vat with doubling season out...make 2 solemns sac them to ghave to get 4 counters and draw 2 cards....or acidic slime tokens...or whatever you need to make tokens
@MAC9090 exactly!! more dream scenarios include fleshbag maurader....primeval titan......avenger of zendikar.... so evil :)
Get some undying creatures, an undying creature and either ashnod's altar or earthcraft with ghave out means infinite creatures;earthcraft: tap Young Wolf to sac it to ghave, it comes back, tap it to remove counter for a saproling, tap saproling to sac young wolf, tap it to remove counter for a saproling..... repeat
ashnod's altar: sac Young Wolf for 2 mana, it comes back with a counter, remove counter with floating mana for a saproling...... repeat
Personally i love Mikaeus, the Unhallowed for this. Mikaeus and vish'kal is another infinite combo, sac vish to himself, he comes back with a counter, remove counter to give something else -1/-1, repeat. You can wipe everyones board of any creature without shroud or hexproof this way. If you have a requiem angel out when doing this you can infinite spirits because vish keeps dying and coming back.
I use Demonic Tutor , Idyllic Tutor , Shred Memory , Dimir Machinations and Fleshwrither to get my earthcraft/ashnods/academy rector(for earthcraft).
Knight-Captain of Eos doesn't seem to fit. Actually, for a deck that wants to focus on tokens, surprisingly little of your deck is dedicated to abusing Ghave's abilities. I expected to see a lot more support for Ghave (Psychotrope Thallid , Blade of the Bloodchief , Requiem Angel , etc.).
There are a few cards you should find room for:
card:Geralf's Messenger
Also, I'm a bit confused about your budget. The description says you can't afford things like Survival of the Fittest , yet I see plenty of staples in this deck that are just as (if not more) expensive.
@Epochalyptik thanks for your input. The only one I don't understand is Utopia Mycon when there are seemingly better cards like Phyrexian Altar and card:Ashnod's Altar. The spore counter affect seems too slow to me to be good but I've never tried. What are your experiences with the fungi?
Also, What specific cards besides Knight-Captain of Eos should I cut?? thats what I'm struggling with the most. the knight has been in there as a fog machine for politics sake in multiplayer. I've always been scared of OHKO's from buffed up The Mimeoplasm , skittles, rafiq. But I agree with you b/c there is a lack of soldier token production. I was thinking about adding in the outpost that creates soldiers and possibly even the darien king that makes more too.
And clarification about the budget. What I mean is that I'm not able to purchase those cards. Yes, I could aquire them in trades but since tappedout is my only resource of trading, I've given up hope on acquiring Survival of the Fittest and card:Gaea's Cradle lol. Any card over $20 here I've traded for or have just always had in my collection. Hope that clarifies things.
Utopia Mycon isn't good because of the spore counters, it's good because of its other ability. It can provide a good deal of ramp by allowing you to sacrifice all the tokens you've been producing with your excess mana on other turns.
Cards I would cut:
Stoneforge Mystic (possibly; it's only good for finding Skullclamp )
card:Umezawa's Jitte
You might consider Perilous Forays for ramp.
thanks @Epochalyptik!
nice deck, card:Green Sun's Zenith might be a nice include along with Decree of Justice and Chromatic Lantern .

Woodland Cemetery
, Isolated Chapel
, and the shock-lands are all good candidates. The shock-lands go particularly well with your fetch-lands.
