Ghalta/Barney Hug

Commander / EDH*

MrF1692

I love you! I always loved dinosaurs, so I was very excited for Ixalan. Rather than tribal, here is a weird group hug idea I had.

This deck was originally just Ghalta, the goal was to get out and smash as soon as possible. It was pretty consistent, but I like it more when my decks are a bit different than the usual affair. I got the idea to make group hug after seeing Tempting Wurm when looking for high powered creatures. Group hug decks that don't have a way to end the game seem kind of pointless, so my commander is how I end the game! Assault Suit and cards that help my opponents during combat such as Key to the City and Predator, Flagship can help close games out too.

The deck's game plan is pretty straight forward. Win or lose, the game will get big fast. Wumpus like creatures may allow our opponents to drop creatures from their hands, but they make Ghalta come out very quickly. I am also very amused by the idea of loading up on huggy artifacts and enchantments and then dropping a bunch of centaurs with Rampage of the Clans

The deck still has some remnants of the original (mainly cheap big dinosaurs that I kept around purely because dinosaurs) but I will change them out if more amusing group hug or political cards come out in green. Winning is not the top priority with this deck, though I will probably keep the Overwhelming Stampede like effects just so I can win once in awhile.

Considerations for the deck: Generous Patron and other cards with support. I forgot Oath of the Gatewatch was meant to be two headed giant, so I kept forgetting support could target other players! Thanks Battle Bond! (the green partners targeting other players just in case seems funny too) Patron also works with Sheltering Ancient and Evolutionary Escalation ! I would probably add Curse of Predation if I do this.

New Frontiers , Heartwood Storyteller and Weird Harvest . I just don't have these. Though the harvest will take convincing, cause some of my play group is a little too spikey to be handed what ever creature they want. They are the reason O stone made it in!

More nonbasic lands. The original deck had like 30 forests because I had things like Traverse the Outlands and Nessian Game Warden (a pet card of mine) So I should probably add more wacky lands. Lost in the Woods was a consideration but everyone keeps talking me out of it.
