Dinosaur! Dinosaur! Ancient enemy of man!

Hello all! Who's ready for some Elder Dino Highlander!?

What's the funnest thing to do in EDH? That's right; play big things so that you can then play bigger things and eat your opponents in one bite.

The great thing about Ghalta, Primal Hunger is that by doing the thing you want to do, which is to play huge-power creatures, you are advancing your other game plan, beating your opponent with commander damage.

The most important thing is to maintain your creatures. So hard-to-get-rid-of creatures or persistent threats are the way to go. My favorite one that works perfectly in this deck is Phytotitan , cause in what other deck do you play Phitotitan!? Other keywords would be hexproof and indestructible. Archetype of Endurance is the posterchild for this since it also gives hexproof to Ghalta, but you can't go wrong with Siege Behemoth either. Stonehoof Chieftain goes along the same vein, but Colossus of Akros is also great. Sadly we only have one Heroic Intervention effect.

The next stage of the plan is to give Ghalta haste. Surrak, the Hunt Caller is perfect since he also makes Ghalta cost 5 less. Lightning Greaves and Swiftfoot Boots are also perfectly serviceable, but you haven't lived until you get a flying dinosaur with Fleetfeather Sandals . Plus, Strider Harness is perfectly acceptable as well.

My favorite thing about the Primal Hunger is how he causes things to pull double-duty. Think of Caged Sun , not only does it double your mana, but the pump it gives also makes your commander cost 1 less for each creature you control. The same is true of Elvish Archdruid , that's another reason to have a bunch of mana-dork-elves. Think about Beacon of Creation ; if you have nothing but six forests then you can play Ghalta the next turn. Smuggler's Copter now serves as both looting and ramp by having 3 power.

Throw in some of my favorite green 6-drops and you've got yourself a deck! See the Unwritten , Selvala's Stampede , and Lurking Predators round everything out and help to get the particularly large things out quick. Never underestimate the play of Myojin of Life's Web into Rishkar's Expertise , using the 5-drop ability to play Soul's Majesty , and then removing the Divinity Counter.

Do you like 12/12's for 2 mana? Then this is the deck for you! Do you like Hydra Omnivore being a ramp spell? Then this is for you! Do you like draw-go and answering your opponents threats? If so this probably isn't for you. The main answer this deck has is player-removal by reducing your opponents' life totals to 0.

Now get out there and get stomping!
