Generator Angel 7.00!!!!! —Dec. 20, 2016

Today I finally finished the new version of this deck!

Patch 7.00 will have deck updates, and a description overhaul.

For the deck part, the most important part, I've decided that Akroma's Memorial and Endless Horizons weren't pulling their weight. My deck can get lands even without Endless Horizons and Akroma's Memorial is just overkill, If I can summon 17 4/4 angels at turn7, they dont need haste and trample, its already enough. As for cards I added, 3 copies of Declaration in Stone have found their way into the deck. After testing this deck, I thought my early game was still lacking even with all the steps i've took to better it. So, some extra removal will do the trick. I've spent a long time thinking of which removal to add, and I ended with Declaration in Stone because it is cheap, can potentially kill more than one creature, and can wipe tokens. And its downside is something your opponent has to pay for to activate, and then its probably still better than Path to Exiles downside. You can even use it on your own creatures to draw cards. I wanted to remove Celestial Mantle as well for the fourth Declaration in Stone but decided against it in the last second, thinking that Celestial Mantle combos with too many cards and is jsut an extra way to win the game. This update also fixed this deck's sideboard.

All-in-all:

-1 Akroma's Memorial

-2 Endless Horizons

+3 Declaration in Stone

As for the description, I added a combo's and synergy part in the individual card discussion, and added a game simulation. I've also made a new banner and made everything more orginazed in spoilers.

I hope you guys like it! let me know what you think or if you find any weird things in the description.

Enjoy!

You get an upvote from me: it's pretty awesome coming up with a white mana-ramp deck and running angels!

Curious how well Luminarch Ascension has worked for you, I used to play it in my Angel's deck here but found myself hard-pressed in one-on-one games to go four turns in a row without loosing life. I eventually swapped it out and only use it during multi-player games now. Luminarch also appealed to me since it was a relatively cheap way to get otherwise expensive Angel's onto the battlefield. Since you don't really have a mana problem with this deck, I would consider swapping it out for something in your maybeboard.

Well done, though!

Sunseed Nurturer could be fun but I feel like Gold Myr could do the job better although the life is nice.

Use Snow-Covered Plains instead of basic Plains, as if you use your Extraplanar Lens with basic Plains, you will affect the mana pools of opponent's (potential) plains.

And right after posting that. i noticed people already pointed it out xD

I playtested in a casual (not serious competitive player) 5-player free for all and with Entreat the Angels and Nykthos with around 20 cards (Including Admonition Angel and Avacyn), Extrasolar lens on the plains, i ramped up 37 tokens dreadfully quickly and wiped three of the five out within 2 turns (especially as Archangel of Tithes severely clamped down their fields)

amazing deck, +1

Thank you so much Pyrezz! Yeah I should change to Snow-Covered Plains however, I feel like its maybe a bit of a cheap trick? But the main reason im not switching yet is budget reasons. I still dont even have all the cards of this deck yet haha, still need the 3 Admonition Angels!

Hey! just wanted to say that i really like your deck!, i was already looking for a solid angel deck base, and what i found here is a lot better. You can use lots of angels, tokens included, and the expensive, overpowered ones, whithout having a shitty tribal deck that has all the mana curve wrong and cant see effective play. So i want to thank you for your efforts on building this deck (i might even build it). maybe Iona, Shield of Emeria for a fun spot for finishing your opponents hopes? who knows, anyways, keep up the good work!

Thanks ArTr! Yeah I get what you mean, I've spend a lot of times thinking of ways to get some mana acceleration since angels generally cost so much mana. However, with the cards I have now I got so much mana that I just filled the deck with cards. Yeah I've had Iona in one of my previous version of this deck, and probably should put it in my sideboard since you just win vs mono-coloured decks, Thanks for the suggestion!

a glaring issue i see is that there are too many cards in the sideboard. cut Tectonic Edge, Mana Tithe, Admonition Angel, White Sun's Zenith, and basically all the creatures, except for Grand Abolisher. I would give you pointers on what to replace for them, but I don't know your local meta. Also, if you say that Quarantine Field is just a slightly worse form of Oblivion Ring, then just use o-ring instead. Unless quarantine field has actually cleared a board late game, I don't think it is worth it.

Hey Wurmlover, Thanks for your comment, i appreciate it!

Quarantine Field is only worse than Oblivion Ring if youre forced to use it early for 4 mana, which is maybe the worst case scenario. And even in that worst case scenario, you can always cast Quarantine Field again after bouncing it back to your hand with Emancipation Angel. In this deck the scaling of Quarantine Field is much more important than the one mana Oblivion Ring is cheaper. In turn 4, If i have an Extraplanar Lens on the field, which I should (If not I should at least have a Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx) I could already exile 2 non-land permanents, in turn 5 3-5, depending if I can play a second Extraplanar Lens or have both Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx and an Extraplanar Lens on the field.

As for the sideboard, youre right. Im still figuring out what to put in, but ill soon update this deck with more early game removal (currently thinking of Declaration in Stone), and a new sideboard and description. It's kinda like a hobby writing these description so im already been busy for a week for about an hour or two a day on the new version.I was thinking that Mana Tithe could be be better vs a non creature deck than something like Path to Exile or Quarantine Field however I very rarely play vs those kinds of deck, and I can't every possible scenario into account.

regardless, Mana Tithe is a bad card. if you're playing a deck that relies on instants, Thalia, Guardian of Thraben is better.
