Lifecrafter's Bestiary —Feb. 2, 2017

With tax return season upon me, I found myself with a little bit of extra spending money on my person this month - so I treated my favorite deck to some upgrades! The (completely optional) dual lands Taiga, Plateau, and Savannah have been added.

In addition, I'm very eager to try out Lifecrafter's Bestiary from the newest set. Here's the change log:

  • +Dual Lands: Reorganizing land base to accommodate Duals. I'm also swapping Wood Elves in for Farhaven Elf, as now I think that's the better pick.
  • -Sensei's Divining Top // +Benefactor's Draught: I can't deny that Top is amazing in this deck. Still highly recommended. But Draught just seems fun, so I want to give it a shot.
  • -Mentor of the Meek // +Lifecrafter's Bestiary: I'm hoping Bestiary is gonna pull double duty when in play - covering for both Top and Mentor. Losing Top is questionable considering the land fetching in this deck, but I can't imagine I'm going to take too big of a hit in terms of consistency. Excited to play this new artifact!
  • -Heliod, God of the Sun // +Iroas, God of Victory: Two very common swaps. However, I've been leaning toward Iroas lately. I need the evasion, and blocking is, like, totally overrated.

Nice deck you've got here.

How about Recruiter of the Guard?

acefalo - Yeah, Recruiter does seem pretty good. Grabs a lot of key targets, like Selfless Spirit, Fumiko, and Rec Sage. Will have to try to pick one up sometime.

Hello, I seriously LOVED the deck!

I have some questions... but the only one coming to mind right now is: why no Maze of Ith? Sorry if its written in your description, I couldn't read all of it yet. I just didn't get why Kor Heven instead, is it because the creature still remains tapped? If yes, is it really worth it the ability cost(mana)?

Thanks!

Marvell - Yes, Maze is a great option, technically better than Haven at what it does. Not sure why I never added it to the write-up.

However, it's important to run it as part of a pillow fort package rather than as a land - it doesn't tap for mana, unlike Haven. Still, being tutorable by Knight of the Reliquary still seems really good!

Thank you for your reply!

I currently have only one deck, na EDH MonoB(my fav color), and decided to build a poltical deck to play around, hug or slug maybe and ended up here. I bought a Kynaios but I'm having a hard time trying to get something I like... a pseudo-hug political which I get the most advantage. So I have to ask you, do you know something about Kynaios? Cuz I really liked your deck but I'd like do search a little bit more about this adorable hug! Thanks and sorry hahha

Marvell: Hmm... Kynaios is a pretty great start, honestly - you get all of this deck's colors + blue for stuff like Edric and Propaganda. I don't have much experience with this commander, but the blue gets you really cool stuff like Collective Restraint, and combos like Enchanted Evening + Aura Thief // Cleansing Meditation. Oh, and you definitely need a Gilded Drake in Kynaios!

Personally it's not a commander I would run - I'd be afraid I'm putting the combo player too far ahead, but he's certainly interesting and fun!
