Gaddock Teeg

Currently in the process of foiling out, so hit me up if you can help out!

Introduction.

Gaddock Teeg epitomizes the phrase "good things come in small packages". This little ball of hate seems fairly innocuous to the unsuspecting opponent and when left unchecked, can lock down the game in a hurry. You won't make many friends playing this deck, but if you've read this far, you don't really care!

Strengths.

The Kithkin's ability to enter the battlefield early and shut down a lot of ramping shenanigans is his strongest asset. The ability to turn off board wipes mid game (Exception: Cyclonic Rift and Oblivion Stone) means that you can build your board state worry free, and the the ability to say no to end-game spells like Tooth and Nail, Omniscience, and their ilk is huge. The abilities affect you too, but we break parity by keeping all of our non-creature spells at 3 CMC or below.

Weaknesses.

As I mentioned before, Teeg's hate affects us too, so our non-creature spells are limited to 3 CMC or lower. There isn't a trace of "Spike" in this deck. Teeg is little and dies easily to spot removal. We aren't going to win any games with general damage. People don't like not being allowed to play their "Timmy" spells and as a result, Teeg draws a lot of resentment. You will be the focus of a collective effort from your opponents and their ire. Fortunately the support cards within this deck will create a wall of respite for you while you find a way to win or watch as they beat each other down.

General Strategy.

This deck is usually a slow grind, but can win pretty quick in optimal conditions. I like to have at least one enchantress in my opening hand. There are 5 of them in the deck and they are the pillars that hold it up. The enchantresses are our card draw engines and allow us to abuse cards like Solitary Confinement and Dawnstrider. There are hate cards for every situation and answers to any strategies within the deck. Luminarch Ascension is our main win condition, but there are contingency plans. Steal fatties with Preacher or Willow Satyr or get Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite out and proceed with the beatdown. Pump your manlands with Gavony Township when all else fails. 80% of my wins have come by pillow-forting myself and watching my opponents beat on each other until there is only two of us standing. Then I can focus my resources on just one opponent and just go for the throat.

Notable Synergies.

Gaddock Teeg + Gift of Immortality/Shield of the Oversoul + Sterling Grove + Greater Auramancy. Your enchantments and enchanted creature are virtually untouchable. (Exceptions; Bane of Progress, Cyclonic Rift, Back to Nature and Oblivion Stone).

Argothian Enchantress/Mesa Enchantress/Verduran Enchantress/Eidolon of Blossoms/Enchantress's Presence + Dawnstrider/Solitary Confinement. With 25 enchantments in the deck, you can sit back and watch the action without the fear of taking any damage.

Academy Rector + Eldritch Evolution. This requires no explanation. Just great value!

Reasons to play.

This deck is very much the Cadillac of "toolbox" style decks. If you like long, drawn out games and the ability able to answer anything or shut down any strategy in their tracks, then this is the deck for you. Card advantage is everything in EDH, and by playing the suite of Enchantresses, it provides us with just that. If you have sadistic tendencies(Shadenfreude), and you like to win, then this deck is perfect for you.

Reasons Not To Play.

This deck can cause long, cerebral, tedious games. You have to keep track of a lot of state based effects and it can be really easy to miss one and get into trouble. You will not make any new friends...in fact, you will probably lose a few. If your meta is casual and you like to play for the social aspect, then leave this one alone.
