Whip it Real Good!

Overview:

My take on all the Sidisi Whip decks flying around. It's pretty close to Shahar Shenhar's version of the deck, which in my opinion is the most powerful (it won world championships, so you know). I have added some cards I thought were good, and obviously, I'm not running cards I don't have, so it's not a carbon copy of Shenhar's deck. Note: this deck doesn't really care about the legends rule. Playing a second Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth is great; tap the first for a floating mana, play the second (getting another card to delve). This gets you an extra mana. Playing an extra Whip of Erebos will just give you another card to delve, and in super-late game I've even been able to whip two creatures back in a turn. Playing an extra Sidisi, Brood Tyrant is good too, because you get three cards in the yard, probably a token, and a Sidisi, Brood Tyrant ready to be whipped back. Let's look at the parts of the deck:

The Combo:

Sidisi, Brood Tyrant + Whip of Erebos : This is truly the heart and soul of this deck. Doubtless you've all heard about this combo before, Sidisi, Brood Tyrant mills you, letting you get back bombs fast with Whip of Erebos. Sidisi, Brood Tyrant can also churn out tokens pretty fast, which is great. Chump blockers are the best thing ever if you don't have Whip of Erebos out yet.

The Bombs:

Hornet Queen: Excellent target to whip back as it gets you a lot of deathtouch tokens that stay even after Hornet Queen has to leave.

Torrent Elemental: I am really excited about this card. Nearly impossible to remove, he keeps coming back and lets the whole team swing for the win.

Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver: Duh.

Garruk, Apex Predator: Duh.

Ugin, the Spirit Dragon: Duh.

The Utility:

Soul of Innistrad: This could also go in the bomb section, but it belongs here because it can bring back Torrent Elemental, Courser of Kruphix, and anything else you want to have for the rest of the game instead of a turn. It can also be activated from the yard, making it a great utility even if it gets milled.

Satyr Wayfinder: Gets you land AND cards in the yard early game. What's not to love?

Sylvan Caryatid/Courser of Kruphix: Shut down aggro early game and speed up my game a bit.

Flooded Strand/Wooded Foothills: Delveable Islands and Forests. Great to get an early-game Murderous Cut going.

Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver: Duh.

Anything else is pretty straightforward. Don't forget to +1 and leave your ideas below!

Updates:

2.0 UPDATE (FRF): This deck runs very smoothly with Tasigur, the Golden Fang. You can whip back a meh creature and force them to give you your bomb or a kill spell back. (This is the late-game plan, around turn 7 or 8.) Of course, there's always those two random cards, but they do little to change how awesome these cards work together.

2.1 UPDATE (Walkers): Goodbye for now, Tasigur, the Golden Fang. I was playing my friend's Esper control and was getting my jimmies rustled a bit too much for my liking, so I tested topping out my curve with some Garruk, Apex Predator, and loved it. Tasigur, the Golden Fang was expendable as far as playtesting ideas go, and I found I didn't miss him that much. I have seen the new post-FRF Sultai control decks that are doing really good (Gerard Fabiano's looks really interesting), and am currently trying to get the best of both worlds with the walkers and the whips. I may go further down the control path, but for now, I feel good about where I am.

Updates Add

Round 1: 2-0 against control.

Round 2: 2-0 against burn? The deck was all over the place.

Round 3: 2-0 against whip tokens? This deck also confused me a little.

Round 4: agreed to draw with heroic.

Ended up 2nd seed in the Top 8.

Top 8:

Round 1: 1-2 against the same deck I played above. My hand shit the bed both times and he was running Hooded Hydra, which I have some newfound respect for. I still can't forgive myself for how badly I played this matchup. I think I ended up 5th overall, which was sad.
