If you don't mind losing your friends, this Brago deck is for you! It's basically a stax deck with the Brago, King Eternal + Strionic Resonator combo as the main win condition. Some of the dirty moves around that are: infinite mana, infinite damage to opponents, mass card draw, mass land removal, bounces, etc.

  1. Why to play Brago
  2. Jokes aside, Brago is really enjoyable to play with his unique mechanic that allows you to blink any number of non-land permanents you control, abusing ETB and LTB effects. It's possible to use manifest effects from Lightform or Cloudform , so you can blink the manifested cards and then they return faced up, without paying it's cost. Also, you can blink your mana rocks (such as Gilded Lotus or Mana Vault ) so you can return then to the battlefield untapped, allowing some mana ramp.
You can build a Brago deck in many ways: creature heavy, stax, aura, etc. So do it as you wish! There's a lot of cool things that Brago can abuse!
But keep one thing in mind though: if you wanna build a Brago commander, you need to know how his effect interacts with many cards and situations. In the section bellow I'll explain how some of them works.
  3. How this deck works
  4. Basically, what we want here is to connect Brago, King Eternal dealing damage to an opponent, and tutor our way to find Strionic Resonator and any number of mana rocks that together generate at least , so we can copy Brago's ability infinite times, making our ETB/LTB effects devastating. Until we get there, we will be using our stax pieces to slow down the game in our favor.
    Here are some key pieces:
    • Grand Abolisher One of the most important cards. It allows us to safely cast our combo pieces, and protects Brago when we're attacking. Try to protect it.
    • Grand Arbiter Augustin IV Taxes our opponents and makes our lives easier.
    • Loxodon Gatekeeper Awesome stax effect, still interacts with Mentor of the Meek .
    • Mentor of the Meek He is an excellent draw resource, since nearly all our creatures have power 2 or less.
    • Rishadan Brigand This card is really strong. Paying every turn is heavy. If we go infinite, this guy clears our opponents' boards.
    • Tribute Mage A great card that came out with Modern Horizons. It helps us get our main artifacts cards, such as Strionic Resonator , Lightning Greaves , Swiftfoot Boots , Winter Orb , etc.
    • Trinket Mage Helps us to find mana rocks ( Sol Ring , Mana Vault ), Lightning Greaves , artifact lands and Altar of the Brood .
    • Trophy Mage Again, mana rocks, stax pieces, Whispersilk Cloak , etc.
    • Wall of Omens It's always nice to have this guy and draw more cards each turn we blink him.
    • Whirler Rogue Has a lot of uses. Helps us to connect Brago, create tokens (infinite if we get our combo), and has a special interact with Winter Orb and Static Orb : allows us to tap the orbs before our turn begins, so we can avoid their effects.
    • Cyclonic Rift It's simply too strong to not be here. Synergizes really well with stax decks.
    • Muddle the Mixture Helps us to find any 2 CMC card we need, such as Strionic Resonator . Otherwise, use it as a counter.
    • Whir of Invention We REALLY want to find our artifacts.
    • Altar of the Brood No other use than to win the game after we connect our combo pieces. Mill everyone out.
    • Azorius Cluestone Mana rocks are fundamental for our strategy, since we can activate them twice per turn. These rocks will be our main source of mana, that's why we are not afraid of running Stasis , Winter Orb , Rising Waters , etc.
    • Azorius Signet Converts into . Really important, and it helps us maintain Stasis online.
    • Basalt Monolith Brago can untap it without paying . Just blink it and be happy.
    • Gilded Lotus Best colored mana source we can have.
    • Mana Vault Same as Basalt Monolith , though it's cmc is . Great for turn 2 Brago
    • Sol Ring Great mana rock. It allows turn 2 Brago. All we want to come in hand.
    • Static Orb Amazing stax piece, use it so we can get enough time to find our combos. Can be tapped with Whirler Rogue so we can avoid it's effect.
    • Strionic Resonator Brago goes infinite with it if we have some mana rocks. It's possible to combo it with a lot of cards listed here to completely turn the game into our favor (or insta win). It's great even if we can't combo yet, since it may double powerful ETB/LTB effects (sometimes it's all we need).
    • Swiftfoot Boots Protects Brago and gives him haste, such as Lightning Greaves . It's a must have.
    • Tangle Wire Powerful stax artifact. Our opponents will always have to tap 4 permanents, while we can tap Tangle Wire and another 2 permanents. It's not a problem since we run some enchantments, artifacts that doesn't matter if they're tapped (even creatures that we'll not use to combat). We can reset the fading counters everytime Brago blinks Tangle Wire. Try to play it as soon as possible.
    • Whispersilk Cloak Great way to either protect Brago and protect him. Kinda costly, though.
    • Winter Orb Another great stax card, such as Static Orb .
    • Detention Sphere Nice against token based decks, and you can manipulate the stack in a way where it's possible to permanently exile non-land permanents using this card and the Strionic's infinite combo. It works basically the same as with Parallax Tide . I've explained how it works with Parallax Tide in the comments. Just manipulate the stack the same way as you do in step 6 foward. Beg your friends to not punch you in the face though.
    • Mystic Remora Awesome card. Allows us to draw so many cards, and we can reset the cumulative upkeep by blinking it.
    • Oath of Jace This one have been impressive so far. We can draw a ton of cards and select our hand. Most of the time the downside won't hurt us.
    • Parallax Tide We can blink it to get our lands untapped, or we can deny some of our opponents' lands, or in the best case scenario we can exile all of their lands. Really evil. How to do it is described in the comments.
    • Pentarch Ward Protects Brago, helps him to connect and draws us a card. That's all we want.
    • Reality Acid We can remove anything with it.
    • Rising Waters Slows everyone down. With Parallax Tide in game, we can exile our tapped lands, blink it with brago and bring them back untapped to avoid this effect. Otherwise, we use our mana rocks.
    • Stasis Cool card for us, but draws a lot of hate. We can avoid the effect as well by blinking our creatures and artifacts, but PLEASE don't forget to blink Brago as well, don't leave him tapped. Blinking mana rocks is the way to keep it online (or, again, with Parallax Tide ).
    • Venser, the Sojourner Synergizes well overall. Blink him to use his abilities twice per turn and reset his loyality counters.
    • Tezzeret the Seeker The best planeswalker for our deck. As he enters, he can tutor an artifact, and do it again on the second main phase if we blink it, his impact is direct.
  5. Notes
  6. You'll want to cast Brago as soon as possible. A turn-1 or turn-2 Brago is ideal, but always play smart since you will draw hate once you make the deck flow.
Watch out for removals and wipes, always try to protect Brago.
And that's it! I'll be updating the deck quite often, adding new pieces, removing what's not working. Also, I'm looking for any sugestions and will be here for any question, so feel free to ask! Hope it can help you!
