TortEx is probably one of the most interesting decks in Pauper, so I thought I'd try my hand at brewing something up - but I just don't like doing what everyone else is doing, so I had to experiment a little bit. I started out with a Rakdos Madness list, but it just didn't work as well as I had hoped. Tried Golgari, but it was too close to what other people play. In the end, I settled on Mono-Black. This gives us a few advantages - a much more consistent mana base, more efficient Crypt Rats , and Defile , one of the best black removal spells. We also get to use Witch's Cottage , which slots right into the deck. Since we can't use Commune with the Gods and Vessel of Nascency , we're running Ransack the Lab instead. Trying out Myr Servitor as sac fodder for Plagued Rusalka , but might replace it with Sanitarium Skeleton .
