Maybeboard

Sorcery (1)

I made this deck after seeing Gitrog come out and how it could interact with some of the land discard effects from Magic Origins. Originally this was going to be a standard deck but after seeing what Countryside Crusher could do I decided to make it a semi-competitive casual deck to play among friends.

This deck revolves around using beefy creatures to beat down the opponent, which can happen over the length of 4-5 turns or sometimes in 1-2 depending on how big the Crusher gets. Groundskeeper and Mina and Denn, Wildborn help us refuel our hand once we run out of lands to fling at our opponents or discard to Magmatic Insight . Mina and Denn can also give Gitrog or Crusher trample, which sometimes decides games. Ultimate Price and Blightning help us control the board state, with Jund Charm coming in clutch against weenies/tokens when Molten Vortex comes up short. Retreat to Kazandu keeps us alive while we try to optimize our setup and really starts to accelerate once we start dropping additional lands and Evolving Wilds.

All in all, Countryside Crusher + The Gitrog Monster is a nasty combo and I've won every game where both of them hit the field. Once I can muster up the cash I'm going to get some fetch-lands to speed up the tempo and fuel Crusher/Gitrog. Hopefully at some point I can make this deck halfway decent for modern. Let me know what you all think, thanks for checking out the deck!

Updates Add

Finally was able to sell some old cards and get some $$$ to make improvements. The fetch and shock lands really help get the deck going faster and work really nicely with Gitrog and Crusher.

I found that my curve was too focused on 3-mana spells and there wasn't enough removal to deal with strong board threats so I removed a Retreat and both Blightnings to make room for more cheap, efficient removal.

My next step is to hopefully find room for a Life from the Loam but I can't decide what to take out right now. What do you guys think? Please let me know!
