DECK IS CURRENTLY A PROTOTYPE, PLEASE COMMENT AND PROVIDE FEEDBACK

At Feather’s command, squadrons of battle angels swarmed out of the Parhelion II, unsheathing blades made of molten dawn. - Sunblade Angel

Feather the Redeemed is an incredibly powerful Angel that is revitalizing Boros in commander. For only 3 CMC, it essentially provides free Buyback for any spell that targets a creature you control.

Although Feather has many possible variants, this deck is a spellslinging variant, utilizing various flicker effects along with Zada, Hedron Grinder and other cards to benefit from frequently casting cantrips.

Cards featured in the deck, along with justification for their inclusion.

  • Spawning Breath creates large numbers of tokens when used with Zada, Hedron Grinder . Your new tokens can be protected with Bandage , which itself draws you lots of cards.
  • Grapeshot can deal a lot of damage for a low cost, and if you make the main copy target one of your creatures, you can recur it while dealing the rest of the damage as you like to remove threats or burn opponents.
  • Magnetic Theft lets you re-equip Sunforger on your opponents' turns for cheap, then cast instants from your deck for only 3 Mana total, once per turn. You can also use this to steal your opponents' equipment (although they can easily spend the cost to re-equip, they can only do so on their turn.)
  • Aetherflux Reservoir provides an alternate win condition through Storm and slinging spells. Even if it's not used to win, the life provided is still useful.
  • Sunforger is an incredibly powerful tutoring ability, allowing you to find the spells you need for only 5 mana. If the spell that was retrieved and cast targets a creature you control, Feather's effect will trigger. Combined with Magnetic Theft , this can be made 3 mana and instant speed.
  • Swiftfoot Boots provides protection for Feather, and lets us save our flickers for other troops.
  • Thought Vessel allows for no limit to hand size, for full exploitation of cheap cantrips. It also provides additional mana.
  • Boros Signet , Coldsteel Heart , Fellwar Stone , Fire Diamond , Marble Diamond , Mind Stone , Sol Ring , and Wayfarer's Bauble also act as mana rocks.
  • Unwinding Clock allows for reuse of mana rocks on multiple turns. Potentially replaced/augmented with Paradox Engine?
  • Phyrexian Altar lets us use the extra tokens we produce for mana to cast more spells, which will produce more tokens. It also produces infinite mana with Reveillark and Karmic Guide .
  • Skullclamp provides another way to exploit tokens, this time with card draw.
  • Sword of the Animist provides ramp, but in the form of equipment that needs to be attached to a troop, probably Feather due to her evasion. The payoff with this troop is great though.
  • Veilstone Amulet is another source of protection, with a one-time mana investment allowing the cantrip we cast every turn to protect our board.
  • Scroll of the Master pushes the Voltron route; you can deal lethal commander damage with 8 counters and a Psychotic Fury .
  • Feather, the Redeemed returns the card at the next end step, not your end step. This means that with, say, Expedite , you can cast and recur it on each of your opponents turns; if you have 3 opponents, this means 4 extra cards per round.
  • If a spell or ability is targeting a specific permanent, and that permanent is flickered at instant speed, that spell or ability is countered upon resolution.
  • If a creature is flickered, it will be removed from combat; any creatures it was blocking are still blocked, but it won't deal or receive combat damage, and it is no longer an attacking creature or blocking creature.
  • Casting a spell to flicker Feather will allow you keep the spell, since Feather is on the battlefield as it is cast.
  • If a token is exiled, say by a flicker effect, it ceases to exist and cannot return to the battlefield.
  • Effects that flicker remove counters, Auras, and Equipment, and retrigger "enter the battlefield" abilities.
  • Note that flickering a creature you have gained temporary control of will grant permanent control of it.
  • Flicker effects that return to play immediately do not counter effects that do not target the creature, such as sacrifice or wrath effects.
  • If an X spell is cast without paying its mana cost, X is 0.
  • The abilities of Zada, Hedron Grinder and Mirrorwing Dragon create copies that immediately enter the stack. Copies are not cast; thus, the abilities of Aetherflux Reservoir , Guttersnipe , Monastery Mentor , and the like trigger only once despite many spells being targeted, and Akroan Conscriptor does not trigger if it is targeted with a spell created by Zada or Mirrorwing. Copies also don't increase your Storm count, sorry Grapeshot .
  • Spells that are copied from exile (like Isochron Scepter ) are cast when they are first put onto the stack; if the spell targets Zada, more copies will be made, but those copies were made from a spell that was already on the stack, so they don't count as cast.
  • Mirrorwing's effects are symmetrical; if an opponent targets Mirrorwing with removal, it will copy that removal for each creature the opponent controls, and if the opponent buffs Mirrorwing, Mirrorwing will buff all the opponent's creatures.
  • Acrobatic Maneuver , Cloudshift , Felidar Guardian , Justicar's Portal, and Restoration Angel return cards to the battlefield immediately. Flickerwisp , Eerie Interlude , Long Road Home , and Otherworldly Journey return cards to the battlefield at the end of the turn. The latter group of cards can protect against multiple effects.
This deck has a variety of means with which it wins the game. The primary goal is to exploit Feather's spell for value and card draw, although there are several infinite combos
Here are some potential powerful additions that are being considered for the deck.
These cards have been cut because I'm not made of money, I'm made of flesh, and in this country it's illegal to sell your organs so I guess I have to stick to building on a budget.

These are cards that are no longer considered for the deck.
