Description

Deadeye Navigator Combo Deck Prototype:

Use the deadeye navigator + village bellringer combo to infinitely use creature tap abilities to win the game.

Alternatively can play primal surge to win the game.

Idea's:

  • Some way to find primal surge.

  • Something to stop terminus... Nevermore? Faiths Reward?

Looks pretty good. The only real two concerns I would bring up is card advantage and Swiftfoot Boots .

For card advantage, I felt that card:Jace's Archivist worked really well in m12 but I am yet to find a suitable post-rotation replacement. So perhaps you could run 1x more Mentor of the Meek and try to squeeze in 2 or 3 other permanents that let you draw.

I dont feel that Swiftfoot Boots really fits too well so imo you could perhaps turn this into more draw or perhaps some removal.

Just as a practical tip against board wipes; if you know your opponent is playing board wipes, then try to play your hands slower. Dont put everything onto the battlefield at the same time (unless you can combo out that turn) and try to have some spare creatures in your hand to play after they board wipe.

+1 though, nice work!

Have you thought about a sideboard?Have you thought of a sideboard?

I only put swiftboot because when playtesting this deck the deadeye navigator almost always seemed to eat a doomblade or some form of bounce.

I was actually going to see if somehow I could..

-4 boots

-4 mana dorks (avacyns pilgrim)

-4 Stonehorn Dignitary

-2 Primal Surge

+14 some sort of control or card draw to prevent board wipes. Terminus is way too popular it seems. Im happy with Mana + Craterhoof a billion times as a win condition although fog decks without counter is also a problem.

I don't really get what makes a good sideboard yet but im guessing its going to be some anti flier/artifact/enchantment cards and some form of alternate win conditions like tapping for damage or milling.

still currently when Myr/Birds phase out this deck instantly falls apart I think. Gotta have that blue mana.

I would advise you to be careful in adding too much control. It can often take too much synergy away from the deck especially combo decks. My personal preference is to play a more combo/aggro archetype as opposed to combo/control, I find that control decks often struggle in dealing with aggro stratergies.

So I guess what I am saying is that instead of adding more control elements to deal with control, it may be better to add more aggro elements to deal with control.

Sideboards usually consist of cards that are answers to cards that you know are popular or to cards that give you trouble. For example, if you know that lots of people are playing token decks, then you might want to sideboard Ratchet Bomb , if you know that lots of people are playing counters, than you might want to sideboard Grand Abolisher etc.

I guess then the biggest thing to side-deck for is going to be the 9000 delver decks i'll likely see at the local FNM.

Sideboard looks good. I would only suggest a few things, imo; Sylvok Replica > War Priest of Thune /Stony Silence , Moorland Haunt seems a tad out of place, Garruk, Primal Hunter would be a good addition as we discussed, perhaps some of your extra win cons Thragtusk /Suture Priest .

Howd you go at FNM?

I actually didn't play this much at the last FNM. I drafted instead and played an incomplete version of this between matches. All the decks I played against won a few games with a miracle terminus alone but I did manage some early wins also. I wanted more time to complete it first. Im currently playtesting vs UW Delver Top8 and it seems to win turn 7/8 if the delver deck doesn't get too many vaper snags and I get a jaces archivist and a few mana dorks in my starting hand.

Biggest problem is not getting a forest in your starting hand. Considering removing the 3 islands for 3 more forest.

The reason for War Priest of Thune/Stony Silence is because I need something that can counter a early ratchet bomb and slime can be too slow. I plan to rotate copies of all my "maybe" cards every side game I play though to get a feel for each one.

My advice is to get the Acidic Slime 's in the main board, atleast 2 of them, when you pair with a navigator, it turns into a land killing machine and when its 4 land a turn, your opponent is scooping very quickly.
